Taskbar icons shrunk!!!

Here's a screenshot of my taskbar. Some icons have shrunk and others are normal size.
Anyone know what causes this? I'm using Win11 ver 22H2 and Start11 ver 1.47.

TIA.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information on your Windows 11 version, need full version number please. And is this a new install issue or its happened after an update in Windows 11 or any other updates.

Hello,

Start11 enhanced options for the  taskbar (buttons and taskbar size) stopped to function on my system this morning, so taskbar icons have shrunk, at the restart, this morning,  immediately after the last update.

The update consisted in:

2023-09 Aggiornamento cumulativo per Windows 11 Version 22H2 per sistemi basati su x64 (KB5030219) Installazione riuscita il 13/09/2023

2023-09 Aggiornamento cumulativo di .NET Framework 3.5 e 4.8.1 per Windows 11, version 22H2 per (KB5031217) Installazione riuscita il 13/09/2023

2023-09 .NET 6.0.22 Security Update for x64 Client (KB5030559) Installazione riuscita il 13/09/2023

2023-09 .NET 7.0.11 Security Update for Client (KB5030560) Installazione riuscita il 13/09/2023

(my Windows installation is in Italian, the translation is:

2023-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based systems (KB5030219) Successful installation on 13/09/2023

2023-09 Cumulative Update of .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for (KB5031217) Successful installation on 13/09/2023

2023-09 .NET 6.0.22 Security Update for x64 Client (KB5030559) Successful installation on 13/09/2023

2023-09 .NET 7.0.11 Security Update for Client (KB5030560) Successful installation on 13/09/2023)

Now, Winver.exe report Windows version 22H2(Build SO 22621.2283)

thank you for your time and attention

It might be worth uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling Start11.

Are you sure the enhanced taskbar settings in Start11 are enabled as that doesn't look like the Start11 taskbar.

tried to uninstall (completely, with Revo uninstaller) and reinstall: no success.

Any further suggestion?

Is the enhanced taskbar actually enabled in Start11?

As that looks like the Windows 11 taskbar with the new option for uncombined taskbar buttons enabled rather than the Start11 options.

beware: there are two different users here; the screenshot is by "Innatetech", not by me (I am "arecchia")...I confirm, Start11 enhanced options for the  taskbar (buttons and taskbar size) stopped to function on my system only IF and WHEN the enhanced taskbar is actually enabled in Start11.

Complete uninstall and reinstall had no effect on this behavior.

three other reports:

1) right-clicking on the start menu often crashes the application (not the system), especially right-clicking on an application icon

2) I've had application crashes with normal left-click on the user button (the one on the left at the bottom) and the shutdown button (the one on the right at the bottom)

3) when the enhanced taskbar is actually enabled in Start11, if and when mutiple instances of the same application are active, pressing shift+right-click on the thumbnails causes the appearance of the good old context menu, but always in the background: you can guess it is there, but you can't click on it!

What application is crashing when you are right clicking?

Are you using Dragon software or Grammarly?

I use Dragon software, but the only application is crashing is Start11 itself (also if Dragon is in function, as usual on my PC)...

Dragon is known for causing this issue.  We are unsure why and unfortunately they do not offer free trials for us to reproduce it locally.

It's a exisiting install thats been doing it for sometime now on Win11  22H2 Build 22621.2283.

Turned off Enhanced Taskbar in setting and so far so good but it does seem to come and go. I'll give it a few days and see if it stays this time.

I did the same thing, unfortunately (the taskbar with large icons is very useful in my setting), but the app is very unstable, often explorer restarts itself for no apparent reason...and it restarts with the normal Windows 11 taskbar

As I have mentioned elsewhere, the issue is the use of the Dragon software.

Neil, I don't agree: issue n. 1 (right-clicking on the start menu often crashes the application (not the system), especially right-clicking on an application icon) and issue n. 2 (I've had application crashes with normal left-click on the user button and the shutdown button) are NOT present if Dragon is not in use, BUT the avalability of the 'taskbar dimension enhanced options for the  taskbar (buttons and taskbar size)' is INDEPENDENT by the use of Dragon software; the problem is present only after the last Windows Update (as in my detailed report)...

I cannot, unfortunately, do without Dragon and its medical vocabulary for my work: is the single most important reason for my 'fidelity' to Windows itself! Consider I was an Ibm ViaVoice user since 1997, and a Dragon user since its very first release...it is my 'killer application'!

Your post specially says the product is unstable and causes explorer to restart.  This is due to the use of the dragon software.

Unfortunately as noted before there is little we can do about this as whilst it is obviously and understandably an important app for you, it is a very niche product and purchasing a rather expensive copy isn't justified when there is no guarantee we can do much our end and it impacts so few people.  If they still offered trials we would have been able to investigate further.

I cannot explain why two users and only two users are having trouble with enabling enhanced taskbar mode.  Changes to the Windows OS would be impacting more people.

It is known that on later versions of Windows you need to enable enhanced taskbar in Start11 in order to use larger taskbar buttons but that doesn't seem to be what you are reporting.

Hello,

problem solved! it is possible to resize taskbar and icons again.

The latest windows update produced a series of crashes in an application I didn't even remember installing, explorer patcher (https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher).

Removing explorer patcher allowed Start11 to work properly, again!
