How ...

I'm seeing a fair amount of this "glassey" effect in many skins.
example : https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=1&SkinID=3747
Just wondering if someone can point me towards a tutorial. I use PSP 8.
Thanks!!

think of it as another image placed ontop of the original image. Shading that top image a transparent white to transparent gradient at one side gives the appearence of light reflecting. Changing the shape of the shading changes the shape of the glass. I don't know where any psp tutorials are, but I hope that helps.

Or... there's always the faster way. A glass filter for psp or ps. Eye candy for instance.

Photoshop style effects are the best way to do it in my personal opinion.

They reason is, once you have the style the way you like it, you can edit it to other types of styles "reflected chrome and such" and then save it as a new one, building your own library of Styles, or make use of ones others have put together.

I am not sure if Paint Shop Pro has the equviliant of Photoshop Styles, but worth looking into for those who use PSP if it does...

Tried that.. the eye candy glass filter doesn't quite do it.. at least not like in the example. Unless I am missing something..

Thanks IP.. I just don't want to have to learn PS. Gad, it's taken me quite a while to work up to "bad" with PSP.. I can't imagine trying to learn PS while I am trying to learn Skinstudio. Got this crazy idea to put together a WB and DX suite...
So, time for me to go smash my head against the wall some more

This site has some fairly cool effects done in PSP...they're for the older versions, but you should be able to achieve them in version 8. http://www.pinoy7.com/psptutorials/default.htm
