gui olympics ?=)

yeah, that will be awesome, better start finishing my current stuff and start on something new

I remember last year this time I was asking about it. I still use some of the skins from that awesome moment in March. I'd even be willing to contribute towards the prize money!

same here my fav is anile by treetog MAN I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT UPDATED hinthint and some icons and and and i could go on but i will not treetog pwns ..lets just say it goes on., who do u think out of the best skinners around would come close to 1st or take it all and run away with the trophy?

Ok,Ok,Ok, Enough already... What is a gui olympics? That's right, I'm one of the dumb one's that have NO idea what the heck it is. Please,Please,Please tell me(as she falls to her knees begging). I've heard of it many times but to me it's another language, mostly because my other half thinks that skinning or anything to do with it is a waste of time .

It was a contest held last year in which skin sites had skinners represent them, and the skinners would submit WB skins.
A panel of judges would then vote on them, and the winners in all sorts of categories took away cash prizes, as did the sites they represented.
Was an excellent idea, but some idiots spoiled it by constantly harrasing Stardock, and Brad in general, publically claiming there was some sort of alterior motives behind it all, and totally ignoring the fact that Stardock were offering up 10 grand of their own money in prizes.

I ate one before you, you see....clever [ish]....

If its an "Olympics" then why is the contest only in one category? Perhaps a media category (all media players) and/or a Shell replacement type category(which includes DX not a shell really).
I just think it would be more interesting to see what would come out of it in different categories. Of course probably can't expand it too much since the prizes would get a bit costly.
Just a thought though, even though I didn't really follow it closely last time, it was interesting to see how it helped spur some creativity.
