New build

If you're feeling dangerous, there is an update posted tonight. It still has some extremely obnoxious and frustrating movement and ship control bugs. :(

I also discovered that it is reading from the .imp file incorrectly (manufacturing is being read as morale, etc.). But I'm too tired to fix that for tonight. ;)

Improvements in this build include:
1) Some crashing bugs fixed
2) Habitable planets slider now actually works.
3) Habitable planets are only in yellow stars (i.e. non yellow stars will never have a good planet in them).
4) Economics heavily tweaked which is still being worked on.
5) Hopefully your selected shp won't stop being selected randomly.

Some other goodies (I'll ask Cari to post things i may have missed).

Brad,
Your item 3, is this only temporary? What I remember in the OS/2 version was that all stars had
the ability to have planets. Perhaps not equally to yellow stars, but not so completely biased as this.
It just seems that there is enough overlap in generalities in nature that restricting habitable
planets to only yellow stars is unnatural.

Cheers,
Jack

I got a strange thing with the new build. I couldnt check the planets in two blue systems. When selecting them I only got the overview-minimap and statistics on my right side. Just as if I had selected empty space. Other blue systems was fine tho :/

Nothing special in debug.err

On the OS/2 version, it was very very rare for a non yellow star to have a planet. I'm just thinking from a game enjoyment view, having to click on all those stars doesn't really add fun to it.

What do you guys think?

Well, I think it's good if most of the good planets are in the yellow systems...but IMO it'd be good if the others can host a decent planet as well. Not as good as the yellow, but good enough to want to colonize. Perhaps a scale between the other colors..so the rest differs too.

One could also consider changing the behaviour for non-humanoid aliens. (=Yor) They could have much more use for planets that's unusable for humans. And our carbon-based systems could be of less use for them.

Ehh an idea anyway :D

well, I think it should just be extremely rare for other stars to have planets...I mean it wouldn't be so mutch fun just ignoring all the other stars...It brings the explorer out of people :)
