Since todays Win11-Update hitting Windows-Key opens Windows Start Menu instead of Start11

Hey there,

since todays update for Win11, the Windows-Key opens the Windows-Start Menu instead of Start11. I tried switching it in the settings back and forth but it did not help. When clicking with the mouse, the behaviour is as usual and it opens Start11.

Sounds like you might be running an older version of Start11

It also sounds like you may be using a prerelease version of Windows.

Did you by any chance install an optional preview update?

Start11 1.45 resolves this.

I have the same problem - I'm on 1.44.  Check for updates said I have the latest version - where do I get 1.45?

Hello,

You should be able to download it directly from your produce account page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products.

I'm having the same issue. 1.45 is still in Beta, isn't it?
When can we expect it to be released to Stable?

Yes, it still in beta and there are no official announcement on the stable version release timing yet.

Thank you,

As an alternative workaround, you can create a string registry key here : "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8" and call it "AllowWinKeyFix" and give it a value of "1"

That worked like a charm, thank you so much!

Then you seem to be having a different problem.

What application is in the foreground when you have the problem?

I have the 1.4.5 beta installed, and I also added the registry key, but still am getting the built in menu to pop up randomly.
I can 100% reproduce it like this:
- Start the regedit
- Search for some random string, e.g. werj3o4i53joij53oi4j5 so that it takes time to complete
- Have a focus on the Find wind and press the Window key - the built in menu pops up
- Click on the task bar and the Win11 menu pops up.

When performing a database update on tinyMediaManager, the Start 11 taskbar freezes completely for several seconds/minutes and becomes usable again only after the update is finished.

This may be related to the updating of the progress bar (see red frame), which also flickers very very quickly during the update, as if it is being updated countless times per second and the taskbar can no longer react as a result.

May also affect other apps.

Using: Start 1.45
