Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

Hi.
I'm on Windows 11 22H2 + all the patch released until today.

I started to test Start11, so I downloaded  and installed Start11 v 1.44. As this is the first time I do this, I could not tell about the behaviour of previous versions.
What I noticed was that configuring Start11 with a Win10 -like menu, everything seems OK *EXCEPT* for the impossibility to remove from the Start(11) Menu the "Recently added apps" at the top of the menu.
I checked Microsoft Win11 Settings > Customization. Here I correctly switched off this feature.
On Start11 configuration options I did not find anywhere the possibility to do the same.
Is this a bug, a choice or it was not implemented yet?

Thanks for any info.

I will refresh the issue with clicking on stacked windows - clicking is not doing anything (by default Windows popups the previews instantly instead of waiting on hover). Additionally clicking disables showing up previews so I have to move mouse back and on it again.

Hi, here are some bugs that I found but were neither introduced nor fixed in this version:

  1. With two monitors with two different dpi levels. Opening the menu, only the first time you change monitor, the user icon is shown in the wrong position. The second and subsequent times the user icon is shown in the correct position, until you manually open the menu again in the other monitor. (The user icon that can be moved with the Start.Panel.UserPane.ContentLeft setting).
  2. The Shut down button is misplaced on high dpi (screen are from my own style but you can try out with eXperience11 by SimplexDesign with Windows Classic substyle applied).
  3. The All programs button is not translated (at least in Italian even if the translation file is correct).

Note:

  1. unloading WB or switch to Default theme seems to solve all problems.
  2. monitor 2 is on the left, monitor 1 is on the right. Monitor 1 is the main monitor.
  3. build OS 22621.1555
  4. WindowBlinds 11.02 (017 x64 - Windows 11 Edition)

With WB unloaded or with Default theme selected:

Default theme

Thank you,

Hello. I have a license for Start10, is it also valid for Start11?
End of mali84's quote
Sorry, no. Every version number (10, 11, 12 etc) requiers a separate license.

Small issue with enhanced taskbar:

Right-click on Sound icon in Notification Area on main panel, the popup menu shows up on my second monitor, centered, just above the taskbar.  Network and Power icon right-click show up on main panel as to be expected.

Since I installed 1.44 an old issue came back. When my pc wakes up from sleep sometimes the taskbar icons are misaligned. This did not happen on 1.43.

I have small taskbar selected. Running latest Windows 11 build 22621.1635

Windows 11, 22H2: 22621.1555

I'm still seeing the bug where certain launched apps don't appear in the taskbar until after it's fully loaded and clicked on a second time.  Steam is the most notable example.  Here's an example.   I can make a video showing the issue with Steam if that helps any.

Does Stardock have a bug tracker?  Or should I just keep reporting this every version until fixed?

Dell G7 7700 laptop with 2 external monitors (1 HDMI, 1 DP)

Windows 22H2 22621.1635

This has been a problem with every version since Start11 v 1.4.j279 beta, and is still present in this latest one:

On boot, the 'main display' screen shows the notification area on the right with only 3 or 4 icons to the left of the clock (there should be 11), the overflow (^) menu shows a few icons (there should be 15), the Start button is on the left, and there's a totally blank taskbar area in the middle (no pinned icons, no background). This is after all of the other Windows Desktop icons, etc., have been displayed as usual. Hovering over the blank area of the taskbar shows an hourglass, as if it's waiting for more apps/processes to load. Sometimes, waiting another minute or so allows some (but not all) additional icons to appear.

Restarting the Win Explorer process from Task Manager generally results in more notification area icons displaying - and the middle portion of the taskbar usually paints along with the correct pinned icons - but typically still not showing the full set of notification area icons.

Reverting to 1.4.j279 immediately fixes the issue again.

Here is a new one for me.   Win11 2H22 and  Start11 version 1.44.   The downloads link (3rd from top) on the Start Menu shortcut list (below) does not work.   See photo.  I tried removing it and adding it back again and have the same problem.  Not sure why it thinks it is an "app" vs. just a directory link.

Thanks.

---

Went back and looked a little more closely.  Something is wrong with 22.lnk in my Stardock links directory.   I created a new shortcut to the downloads directory, named is 22, and copied it over the bad shortcut installed with the recent version and everything worked fine.

Please uninstall Start11 and REBOOT (very important).

Then reinstall Start11 as it looks like your version has not been correctly installed.

Same problem.

Windows 11 22H2 OS Build 22621.1555

Changing the Scale to something else in the display options, then switching it back, seems to reset it to the right positioning.

Oops, sorry that was unclear.  I meant changing it to something new, then changing it back to whatever you were originally at, would reset the icon positions to normal.

Yes, that is the issue I am experiencing.  Tho my main monitor is 4K, and my secondary is 1440p, the Sound menu pops up in the middle of the second screen above the Taskbar, where on yours it's more aligned to the left side.
