Not remembering icon locations, resizing windows randomly

Hello,

Is this the main way to reach support? Posting on a forum? Is there no email I can reach out to or is this literally the only way?

Anyway I'm sure lots of people have faced this but it doesn't appear to be fixed. For maybe the first few days, Fences worked normally and remembered the locations of my icons. Now it just throws my icons around randomly. It also randomly resizes my fences!

I'm on the latest update on windows 11.

I can assure you that this is a fairly large community with lots of people connected to Stardock one way or the other and many, many experienced customers/users ready to help 24/7 that would beat e-mail based support any time.

To reproduce, install fences and don't set any sorting. Arrange icons how you want. After some time and usually after restarting the computer, the icons will assume a random order.

What would you like video of please? Be specific.

So its happen after restarting. Screenshots of what was before and what after restart would help.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Need to know more on this.

  1. You on Fences V3 or V4? also, need its full version number.
  2. The issue happen on Normal Fences or Portal Fences?
  3. And, looking at your screenshots. Are those moved up icons ie. "Adobe Illustrator" and "Topaz Photo AI" is recently used?

Thanks

The icons aren't recently used. I have it set to not use any sorting so I can arrange the icons how I want. it's on v4.10. The screenshot is a normal fence. I don't know if it's happening for portal fences.

Hello,

I don't get it. I don't see any issue from those two last screenshots. Which area you're referring to?

On the unreadable text, are you on HDR enable monitor? If you do, try disable HDR and see if it resolve the issue.

That was it! But what can I do about the icons moving around? The 4.11 version didn't help :/

Once the cleanboot is done, test it if the issue still there. If not, re-enable those disabled application one at the time and retest. Repeat until you found the app that causing the issue. If all application enabled yet, the issue does not reappear. Than you're all set. It might just be issue on your original admin account.

I tried but none of the applications caused it to happen again. it happens whenever I restart the computer

it also randomly resizes the fences, which I have sized so that exactly that number of icons fits. it will randomly cause fences to shrink a little making less icons fit and ruining the layout again

Are you using multiple monitors or remote desktop? Sounds like your resolution is changing often

I use a lg c1 connected directly to my gpu with an hdmi cable. I thought fences would automatically restore the layout if the resolution changed?

it's still happening. why can't I lock in a specific order? You would think that would be one of the most basic pieces of functionality. someone help me with this. This support is absolutely horrid
