Cannot create new fences or move existing fences

Day 4

I still cannot create a fence. I have followed everything posted. I am running the latest WIN 10 Pro.

I have enabled fences & rebooted 1000 times. I have moved all 5 desktop icons into a separate folder. (This is a new install of WIN 10 so there is not much on the desktop).

Any suggestions?

You posted about the same issue back in October, and the solution then seemed to be that Fences were locked. Can you right click on your desktop and see if that's the case this time too?

Yes, I know I had the same issue. Different computer.

This time it seems to be different. When I right-click on the desktop, I get a menu that has "enable fences" at the top of it. I don't see the menu you show. Does Fences 4 run on WIN 10?

(I would post this picture but there is no option to insert it).

I tried the solution of moving all icons into a folder. (Currently, there are only the Microsoft 365 icons).

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. May I know these information.

  1. Windows 10 full version numbers. Use Winver.exe.
  2. Fences 4 version numbers.
  3. List down what trouble shooting steps you have tried.

Thanks

Windows Version

Right Click on Desktop

This is the menu when I right-click on the desktop. (This is different from the previous time since I was using Win 11 then).

      Steps taken so far:

  1. Uninstall Fences & reboot
  2. Place all desktop icons in a folder
  3. Install fences
  4. enable fences

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Basj -

Thanks for your help. That worked.

Interestingly I don't get the "Enable Fences" choice when I right-click on the desktop.

Thanks again.

If you already have Fences enable, that "Enable Fences" don't appear in the context menu. Instead you will have "Configure Fences" something like the screenshot below. You on Windows 10, yes?

Hi, Basj -

Yes, I am on WIN 10.

And, yes, that is the menu I see with the "Configure Fences" first.

All appears to work again.
