restoring from old win 11 userprofile to new win 11 user profile

as expected my win 11 profiles got wiped out when I moved from active directory windows server network to Azure only.  apparently my desktop icons were getting backed up in the cloud before I switched to azure and have come back down. But not the Fences configuration.

No change to profile name/path

Have backups of old user profile folder.

Anything  I can copy from backup of profile folder to new one to restore my fences?

Yes. If those backups are Fences backups, then they should restore per whichever you choose. Here's the path of the folder to copy to:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Stardock\Fences\Backups

Worked perfectly.   Might even give me a way to deleting zillions of old snapshots.

Would I just sort that folder by date and then delete? or would I first have to make a copy of it elsewhere, then uninstall Fences, then install, then copy and paste the most recent items back before restoring one?

Yes to that, no to the rest.

Glad it worked, btw.  :)

a variation on the above failed:
newly installed windows 11 which brought down from OneDrive cloud the desktop icons of the prior machine, most of which existed when my old Fences layout was backed up and stored in a OD folder that I can access.  The icons look the way they should.

I restored the old layout but only empty fences with titles appeared and a few icons.

Clicking made no difference. Rebooting no change.

I then used File Explorer to copy and paste some of the icons showing in File Explorer for current machine. That produced icons that worked but had generic icon appearance.

I have lots of full image backups of disks.

Is there something a can restore by copying etc. that will bring in icons within the fences?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Do you have OneDrive Desktop Sync active? If so, that is the issue. OneDrive has move files and shortcut on your desktop into its own folder. This can not work with Fences. You will need to disable OneDrive Desktop Sync and move back those files and shortcut into your desktop folder.
