A zip file containing:

Upload the zip to the cloud drive service or your choice (Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, etc).  Create a shared link to it and Private Message it to me:

Just got the issue today and kept an eye on the behavior.

The issue appeared after connecting to my office environment via Citrix Workspace App. Here I started all the tools I needed, e.g. MS Teams.

15 minutes later, the issue was still there ...

I have the same issue, it initially occurs after my screen times out, then goes away when systray icons change or explorer restarts.

The issue never fully goes away though...

What needs to be known (still):

-Does it stay that way, the crowded icons... or no, once seen, it corrects itself?

-If it corrects itself, how long does that correction take.  Is it he few seconds shown in Paul's video, shorter, or longer?  We want to know the times.

it only corrects itself when there's a redraw of the tray , like icons state change or icon added  or removed.

also right click on task bar and pressing on "Configure Start11" fixes it (until the bug shows up again)

i can try record my desktop and catch when it happens maybe.. ill try my best with it

I got the 1.39.1 update today but it does not resolve my icon crowding issue.

As desired, I've made a recording of the systray icon crowding and DMed it.

I notice this happening after leaving my PC on overnight, but it might also have to do with unread notifications.  Maybe a combination of the two?  Notifications might just be red herring, though, as I've tried spawning a notification with Powershell and that doesn't break it.  Maybe its caused by the transition to a new day, or maybe some timer that overflows if you leave your computer on long enough?

We believe this problem will resolve itself next patch Tuesday as the updated version of Windows replaces the system tray with a new one.  This new system tray will however only allow a single row of icons rather than wrapping them if you have a > 1 row taskbar.

Sounds good. I'm looking forward to that update,

Looks like the issue is gone now after installing KB5022913 and Start11 (1.4.0.2-j285) yesterday.

In my daily workflow, I'm now able to start the Citrix Workspace App to connect with my company and then start Teams. The location and the microphone icons appear in my taskbar, and they are not overlapping.

Actually, I'm using Windows 11 22H2 Build 22621.1344. I'll take a look at the behavior in the next days and will come back here ... Thanks!

Did you install the latest Start11 beta build?

I also had problems after installing KB5022913. There were no taskbar icons shown. I had to disable Start11 and restart Windows Explorer. Then for me, it was okay. After that, I installed latest beta build 1.4.0.2-j285 and still no issues.

I'm running Ver.1.39.1. Where do I get the Beta build?

Edit. Found the Beta and it s seems to have sorted it out. Thanks for the info.

As MS has made changes to the systray (still pending for the general public) that address this issue, this thread will be closed.

Thanks to all that provided feedback, time, and data.
