Blank Pinned Taskbar Items in Start11 That I Can't Remove

Hello!  I have a few blank icons that have been stuck right now.

Without Start11 the pinned items appear as they should.

I have tried disabling Start11, unpinning the items, and restarting Start11 but the blank icons still appear.

Right clicking the icons produces no menu in which I can remove the items from Start11.

Help?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know you on Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version number. Use Winver.exe to get it.

Thanks

The problem fixed itself after Windows Update ran this morning and my computer rebooted, which is strange since I already tried signing in and signing out as well as a reboot earlier.

Windows is Win11 22H2 22621.1105, but as of now the issue resolved itself, so this thread can be ignored. :)

Great, but I still have the problem on my machine running Windows 11 22H2 22621.2134

The app has been deleted and doesn't show anymore, but there is a blank 'page' in the taskbar that won't go away.

Hello,

What do you see if you right click on that blank icon? Do you see unpin ....?

Nothing happens with right click or left click (with left click it just shrinks in size for a while). I can move it within the taskbar but not outside it

Does, restart Explorer.exe or reboot remove the blank icons?

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

If you uninstall Start11, is the icon pinned to the native Windows Taskbar still?

Try to go here: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned

You may need to change "View hidden folders and files" in "Change folder and search settings".

There should be a folder in there called "ImplicitAppShortcuts"

Try to see if one or more shortcut(s) is something you do not have pinned and delete them.

This is for Windows 10, but I think the same applies to Windows 11.

I thought I had replied to this post but it isn't here - so here goes again!

After a reboot the blank icon was still there on plain Windows, but now when right clicking it told be the name of the parent app and also allow me to unpin from Taskbar (neither of these were available in Start 11). This I've done and the icon has gone - I'll reload Start and see if all is still well.

Latest update......... I rebooted after deleting Start11 and the blank icon was still there - however this time when I right clicked on the blank icon it told be what it had been sync'ed with and allowed me to unpin it from the task bar. And it has gone. I'll now reload Start and see what happens.

Reloaded Start - but had lots of resetting to do - icon sizes and the positioning of windows backdrop icons. But at last the blank icon has vanished!

That might be a browser glitch or something, but thanks for letting us know.

I'm having this problem now and cannot figure out how to remove the blank page icon from the taskbar. I'm running Win 11.

When I right-click the blank page, there is no menu that comes up. Right-clicking does nothing at all, no response at all.

How do I remove this pinned blank page?

I encountered this problem.
How to solve it:

  1. Open Taskmanager,
  2. kill Start11 (not srv.)
  3. Restart Explorer.exe
  4. Then Unpin it (you can now)
  5. Kill Start11srv  - it should now restart Start11 and the icon is gone.
