Start 11

Backup settings with entire menu

Hi everyone,

First, I do recommend Start11, as I have tested and used about 8 other menu customization programs for Windows 11.  Most of them are experiencing issues with the Windows Start Button, as they do not align properly and the original Win11 button can partially still be seen.  So, kudos to Stardock.

Now, how can I back up my entire Menu settings.  Those of us that have used Open, or Classic Shell may remember that one could export and import the entire menu settings.  To clarify, I would like to save not only the Start11 settings, but also my own customizations, as I have shortcuts in my menu, sorted in certain ways, etc.  I do a lot of testing and sometimes my menu settings get screwed up.  Would be nice to simply import my settings just as I could in Open-Shell.

Currently one can export this key "Computer\\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Stardock\Start8", however you will not retain your shortcuts.

Looking forward to your feedback and Stardock perhaps this can be a future update.

Hi,

Thank you for your help.

When do you think there will be a User Interface Button/Key in Start11 to automatically export the setting and save the pinned shortcuts along with it?  Just curious.  Surely, it would make this task a bit simpler.

Sincerely, Andy Stanton

You will for any Start11 menu style except Windows 7.  Read here how to back it up as well:

That said, we are working on a more elegant solution for all app setting backups.

thank you, and will do.. this is a very wierd issue that never happened with start10 or windowblinds 10.. so its got to be the newer versions of the apps causing it.. some bugs in the programs that need to be squashed, this is a major bug among the other one that ive already posted about being the show desktop button on the right of the taskbar being transparent when u hover over it.

I also used to export this key from registry to back up settings. After importing into the registry again, settings are all set and icons are there, as long as the same apps are installed.

It would be great to get a button in the UI to export and import settings. 👍

I was informed to ask you to post the issue on Windowblinds thread so it is in a correct product forums. Please do so and I will forward your issue again over there.
