Renaming Filenames are Invisible in Portals

I first noticed this about 4-5 days ago.  When I try to rename a file that is within a Folder Portal Fence, the text is all dark, or invisible, and the background is also.  So it is impossible to read.  Here is a short video of it..  I have uninstalled F4 and reinstalled it.  Tried changing some display/color/fade/transparency settings.  Nothing worked.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Do you have HDR turned "on" for that monitor? If you do, as a test, turn it off and try again. Report back.

Thanks

Yes, it was on.  When I turned it off, the problem was fixed.  I could see the text when editing.

So, is there a fix for this?  Or do I just always have to have HDR off?

Thanks.

This is still an issue in Fences 5.04.

Happens on my 4k monitor and a 4k TV with HDR activated.

I've had the same issue for at least 3-6 months now. But I hadn't experienced this in the 5+ years previously when using fences.

Tried clean boot, HDR is unsupported/disabled, and any other troubleshooting suggested in similar threads.

I've seen this issue echoed in Stardock forums as far back as January 2021 and I'm surprised no one has a fix for this or has even identified the cause.

OS Windows 11 Pro x64 (10.0, Build 22621)

Fences Version: v4.0.7.3 as well as after upgrade to latest v5

Following up to share the solution I discovered for this issue on my devices.

1. Navigate to System > Display > Advanced display
2. Disable "Automatically manage color for apps"

And that's it! I was able to reproduce and resolve this issue on different monitors and computers, so hopefully this works for someone else too.

Cheers
