Fences 4 Windows 11 - Icons will not drag and drop from fence to fence or fence to desktop

Following a clean re-install of Windows 11 and Object desk

Hi

I notice that one or two topics mention similar issues but not sure they are like the issue I have.

Fences 4 worked okay prior to clean install of everything, and up until latest update. Now when I install programs the icon enters my "NewInstall" fence but I am then unable to move this program icon from this fence to a new or existing fence or to the desktop.  Lock Fences is unticked so it's not that.  I end up uninstalling Fences 4 and then re-installing it to make it all work correctly, which it does so for that session.  On restarting my PC then scenario starts again.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

P.S. Running Start 11, Cursor FX, Groupy, WindowFX

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

What the full version numbers of Windows ? ( use winver.exe for that )

Hi AzDude, performed the purge and restarted, downloaded the individual installer for fences 4 and not via object desktop. Installed and created a couple of fences from scratch and they worked fine.  Restarted PC again as this would normally cause the locking issue, but now everything worked as expected.  Will update later next week to make sure normal operation works.

Oh No the issues is back after working for a few times.

 

Only thing I have changed from default installed settings is:

Only right mouse button creates fence

Colour of fence and title text

Size of font for title

Snap 1 pixel apart

 

Nothing else has been changed.

 

Advice please, as I desperately need Fences to work for me.

So of course does it work wiithout those changes. ?

If so then add 1 change at a time to test for the bad one .

Hi

Spent most of the day sorting desktop about using Fences with no changes to the default settings. Restarted Windows and the issue was back, the inability to move any icon about the desktop whether in or out of a Fence. Opening Fences settings and unticking "Enable Fences" allows all desktop icons to be moved but as soon as this option is re-enabled Fences return and so does the immovable icons issue.

This issue is driving me mad....
