Terran Federation Thread

First of all we are #13 :CONGRAT: with 15 members LOL !!Okay members of the Terran Federation we need to decide on a flag. Right now it is the symbol from the game, but I need some input. What do you want our flag to be?

If you notice, the symbol is not a target, but looks a lot more like crosshairs from the scope of a gun. Perfect for taking aim. I like the new flag and it fits the empire title. If we wanted, we could change the color of the symbol or the background.

A disembodied voice breaks into the Terran Federation's control center:

Are your officers merely holding the line instead of charging the enemy? Your motivational speeches simply lacking motivation? Have we got the cure for you! Rent-a-Drengin has a variety of motivational technicians specializing in slavery, torture, and, to inspire maximum cooperation amongst the survivors, mass murder. We're cheap, too! Our technicians work for peanuts, with a liberal helping of flesh on the side. Call us today!

Looks like you, not they were in the crosshairs after all.

Hey I've been constantly submitting games and I know Zentir recently did. We have a newbie that I expect to take some time which is understandable, but we have 2 other members that gotta take some action. I hope they are only taking their time to get as many points as they can. This is just a momentary set back, don't worry I still KNOW that the Federation WILL make the top 10

Seeing as how they work for us as involuntary subcontractors, that would be impossible now wouldn't it.?

Hmmm...and you believe you have total control as, say the czars of Russia did. Or perhaps yours is more akin to the utter dominance of the Roman Empire.

How's your theme coming along, guys?

There seem to be lots of new theme empires coming on line so you guys better plant your flag fast.
no problem Zentir you earned the promotion, but we need to get a theme down. Ray the Wanderer is right.
What kinds of themes do you have in mind? It seems like the Earth is a central idea.
yea, but what kind of theme can we have with Earth being the central idea?
What about a united group of adventurers molding the galaxy to suit Earth's needs? We exist for the benefit of mankind.
That sounds like a description of G.R.O.S.S. to me, except we're not as friendly about it. ;)

Have you considered a group of adventurers like the League of Extraordinary Adventurers? Where you pick a famous literary character?

I'm at least glad to see another sci-fiction theme.

Good luck!

Invisible Man: How's it going?

Zorro: Very well!

It has merit!

I like Zentir's suggestion. We just need to get some more background on it
Reply #44 Top
Im going on vacation for a couple of weeks so I wont be busy at all. Keep up the fight though

I like Zentir's idea, I mean first of all we are the 'Terran Federation' so we should work to benefit mankind. I think we should be more or less like the Romans: For the glory of Rome! Save for that it'll be: For the glory of Earth! We are a little more inconspicous about it, take me for example, I'm evil. I'm the one in the back making deals with the scum of the universe. Let's not forget, that the Roman empire was more or less lacking in morals, with all the gladiator fights and slavery.

So I think we should be in service to benefit mankind in anyway possible, even if it means cleansing the galaxy.

We serve Earth.

Umm, remember, guys. The Jedi Republic used to be "The Republic," a Roman-themed space empire. Our leader wisely declared war on G.R.O.S.S. for being an evil threat to mankind. A few weeks later, the Jedi banded together, scraped up the little bits of what was left of our fleet into a dustpan, and set up a new provisional government. Based on peaceful co-existence.

I think the Roman theme works well in space, but be careful to stay out of early wars! And watch out for that space elephant cavalry.

In this age of "the two great themed empires," it's nice to see another independent voice on the rise. Good luck!

Interesting observations, Obi. Sorry for being OT, but I figure I might as well stick my comments in right behind Obi’s.

So we have a bipolar Metaverse now, do we? Hmmm... the Race to One Million did remind me of the Arms Race of the Cold War. If we use a simplified Western viewpoint, the Fellowship would be the U.S.A. and perhaps the Jedi Republic would be Western Europe. G.R.O.S.S. would of course be the Soviet Union. Would the Pirates of the Southern Seas be the Eastern Bloc? This viewpoint is a result of designating “good” alignments as the Capitalist West while designating “evil” alignments as the Communist East. Too simple in my opinion. Let’s look at this from another viewpoint, shall we?

How about ideology? I think the MWC serves as an excellent staring point for this. “The People’s Empire” includes a lot of references to the hardworking values of their agricultural roots. Can this be any more obvious? It’s the People’s Republic of China! Now all major empires accept all gaming alignments so we’re going to have to look a little deeper for the rest. MWCers claims to be agents of good (in a roundabout way) as does the Fellowship and the Jedi Republic. If we’re willing to describe the Fellowship as an empire that strives for “higher ideals” then perhaps it is the Fellowship that is the Soviet Union! Likewise, if we’re willing to describe G.R.O.S.S. as an empire that simple does “whatever works” that bears a striking resemblance to actual U.S. policies (both foreign and domestic). I’d fill in the rest, but I’m sure most have already skipped this post. ;) Keep your minds open! There are always more than one legitimate view.

Again, sorry for being so OT. Go Terran Federation! :D

Kit,

From a historical standpoint, I was thinking more along the lines of the outbreak of WWI. Over the space of a week, virtually every country in Europe and a few elsewhere polarized into two armed camps with no middle ground...defections...intrigues...

Anyway, this is the Terries' thread - I'll save the philosophy for elsewhere. Good luck, guys!

Yeah very wise. Declare war, get stomped into oblivion. HEHE. Fortunately, Yoda hasn't quite been so "Wise" as the former Roman Republic's leader. Nero was it?
