unable to create a new fence (try again) THE REPLY BY PAUL SCROGGINS SOLVED THE PROBLEM

HOW TO CREATE A FENCE
The instructions I was given are "right-click anywhere in desktop choose new folder". In my case that creates a shortcut to a folder, not a new Fence.

MY EXPERIENCE
A reply to my previous post said to right-click the Desktop and scroll down to Lock Fences. There is no such entry on the desktop. I'm not sure what "Desktop" means in this case so I tried both 1) where Fences are stored visually )2 the Windows folder named "Desktop" in this case to mean "C:\Users\pwric\Desktop".

Another reply says...

"Sorry to hear you are having issues. From your screenshot in Reply#3, I can't tell if that is lock or unlock. It is easy to tell if your fences is lock or not. Point your mouse over the Fence titlebar if the "3 line menu" and the "X" icons appear, than, it is unlock."

My interpretation of this is...
Click the title bar of one of the fences on you desktop.
This give me a pop up saying

   Rename View Sort By Remove

So I'm back to square one.

Images would make it a lot easier to describe the situation, but trying to include a link to an image (in this forum) has been my downfall, so I don't want to risk it.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you still are having issues. First let's look at your second issue.

Need to know something first.

  1. You on Windows 10 or 11? Also need to know your Windows full version numbers. Use Windows own Winver.exe to get those. Just type Winver.exe in your search box.
  2. Fences version installed?
  3. Please check if you have Fences listed twice in your taskmanager startup tab. To get to taskmanager->right click on an empty area on your taskbar->Taskbar menu open->left click on "task Manager"->Task manager open->Click on Startup Tab-> Refer screenshot below. Need to have both Fences Settings Enable.
  4. If it is not enable, please enable it and than reboot.
  5. Report back.

Thanks

Let's start with this, this is not the proper way to make a Fence, you can actually click and hold either mouse button and draw a box (Fence) you should then get the option to create a Fence or Create a Folder Portal. See video in link below:

The video will also show how to find the configure Fences by right clicking on the desktop

(Note: video is on Windows 11)
