Alternate to Uncombine Taskbar Buttons in Start 11
As an alternative to uncombine taskbar buttons in Start 11, I use Groupy. It allows me to group multiple apps, or multiple windows of a single app, in one window with an individual tab for each window. The tabs are renamable (which people have asked for in Start 11), and you can also save the group for later use. This would allow you, once again, to center the Start button in the taskbar and it saves valuable taskbar space, especially on a laptop.
I know the UI has not yet been updated for Windows 11 yet (I’m sure it’s in the works) and that not all apps are groupable, but it’s a viable alternative which will perform well for certain workflow styles.
Many apps are now adopting the tabbed interface including Windows Explorer and I expect many more to join the fray in the near future.
This option is not for everyone, but it works well for me and I just wanted to share my experience in the hopes it might also work for others.
