Recent files not showing

I am using Start11 on a freshly installed Windows 11 system.

All updates run on Win11 and Start11. Not beta software.

For some reason, the most recent files I open in Word and Excel will not show up in the start menu.

I am using the modern style in Grid view.

The tiny arrow that should appear next to either Excel or Word is not showing, and thus my recent files are not showing.

My work PC with Windows 10, is doing the same, but I just thought it was because it was Windows 10.

I have been looking in settings for Start 11, and can't seem to find anything I can enable to enable this feature.

Windows Jump lists and recent are enabled. When I right click Excel in the taskbar, all my recent files show up.

If you run Excel, than you right click on Excel taskbar button. Does the jump list appear with all recent files listed? If no, than you will need to turn "Show recently opened items in Start, Jump Lists, and File Explorer" on. Refer to screenshot below. Once that is turn on. You will need to open files again to start populating those recent files list again.

Thank you,

When I right click Excel in the taskbar, I have all my recent files listed in the jump list.

The setting has never been turned off.

It is the same problem on my latop (win11) and my work laptop (win10).

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

It is on freshly installed system. I just did a clean install of windows 11 two weeks ago. Same problem on my laptop.

Typically this means the shortcut doesn't have the same internal application ID as the application uses itself which the operating system uses to link a shortcut to the jumplist (aka recent files)

How did you pin the shortcut to your start menu?

I pinned Excel from the Start11 start menu.

As seen from the screenshot attached. Where it can also be seen that Start11 does see the recent used files, it just doesn't bring them over to the actual start menu.

Also for some reason, even though it is pinned, it still says Pin to Start11 (I am in the process of translating it do Danish, following the instructions from the forum post about it.)

I think I see whats up.  Pinning from the Win10 style all programs onto the Win7/modern menu isn't making the shortcuts correctly.

If you unpin and repin from a search you should be ok.

We will look to fix this for the next update, though existing shortcuts would need to be recreated.

Yep, can confirm that pinning from Search does work correctly. However it won't work with the Windows 11 search, I have to use Start11 search. Which I normally do not do.
