missing icons and fences after startup

I have a new Windows 11 install, all the latest production updates applied. I have Fences 4.0.0.3 installed. rollup is set to "off" and quick hide is set to "off".  I have 3 Fences set up with their individual View-Opacity settings set to "0, only show on mouse hover".

Here's the problem. Every time I reboot, the fences and any stray icons on my desktop are gone, just like what it would look like if quick hide was enabled. No amount of desktop clicking / double clicking makes them appear. I have to open the Fences settings app and just clicking on one of the settings areas makes everything magically appear. Everything works just fine until my next reboot.

One thing I will add is that I have another app, Directory Opus set up to use the desktop double-click to open new app windows, if that matters.

Ideas? Solutions?

Not a deal breaker, just an annoyance.

Thanks!

Disconnect from the Opus app and see if it works properly .

Well, it changed the behavior, but didn't fix it. The desktop icons and fences are still missing when I restart. However, once I double-click on the desktop they magically reappear. While this is better than having to open Fences settings, it still doesn't seem like its working correctly. Thank!

Hello,

What I found is that every time I boot, "show desktop icons" is disabled and there are no icons / fences displayed. As soon as I enable the setting, the fences and icons appear. However, once I do that, I can't change the setting. No matter what I do, "show desktop icons" cannot be changed back to disabled; it's locked in the "enabled" state. Once I reboot, the setting is once again cleared and no icons / fences are visible until I change the setting.

As a workaround this isn't bad, but something is still not right.  Very odd...

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: [link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.
