wandering again, on the dock of lost causes...

So, I just got an email from Stardock, saying "The Windows Start Menu that you have been asking for, is here"...

So... does it finally have a cascading Programs menu??  I've certainly been asking for that, for many months now...
And as always before, if it lacks that ONE FEATURE, it not only is *not* the Start Menu that I've been asking for, it is not of any use to me...

Did they finally get this done??

Hello,

No, if I understand correctly, the all program menu do not have cascading menu under Windows 7 style. But, there is in the right panel, you can always use the 30days free trial to test it out yourself.

Thanks

ummm... I recently exhausted my 30-day trial, but only used it for a few days, as it didn't have ther cascading feature that I require...
However, I wasn't aware of the... ummm... 'right panel' ??

Is there a possibility of getting an extension on the trial period, for 10 days or so??  I wouldn't mind taking another look at that...

Also, is the menu editable?  Can I add links to it, and have those links cascadable?

I am not sure on extension on trial. But you can purchase a license and ask for refund if it not what you expecting.

To answer your question. I made a short video for it. Hope it show you how to add a folder and its cascading menu.

Thank you.

Hi Basj!!  Thank you for this video... so I'm trying this again... but there *is* a partial issue with it...
So yes, I put Programs->StartMenu in the Start11 Menu as you showed, but it is not really ideal; my existing start menu is taller than my 30" screen, so I *still* end up with a scrolling menu - exactly what I'm trying to move away from!!
Is there a setting somewhere in there, that will make the menu multi-column cascading, as both Windows 7 and OpenShell (formerly ClassicShell) did??

Later note:
I *thought* turning on "Show shortcuts in a grid rather than a list" would do what I wanted; I selected 3_columns, 'grid spacing=normal', hide_shortcut_labels=off, but that doesn't seem to do anything with that cascading menu, nor with any other menus in the Start11 system...
*Should* this have worked??

No, I don't think there is.

I believe those setting are for the left part of the Startmenu. And don't change the menu behavior.

So... speaking of the left part of the Startmenu... I set the 'All Programs' so that it does *not* expand automatically expand when I click the Start button, so I have that open field there, which currently only contains the 'Windows Menu' icon...

Is there some way for me to add other links there??

You should be able to but it still won't open a cascading menu.

Well, okay... second experiment over, back to Open Shell...
I would have like to have WB able to skin the start menu, but Open Shell is the only one that provides the functionality that I expect from the start menu...
