Fences keep moving

Thanks in advance for what I'm about to ask. How do I get my fences to stop relocating themselves on the desktop after a shut down, then reboot? I have locked them, doesn't work. I've made sure in right click view everything related to align-to-grid, auto-arrange is unchecked. This did NOT happen until the last update. My OCD is going crazy here, so any suggestions are welcome. Windows 10 Home.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system

  1. Windows 10 full version number. Use Windows "Winver.exe" for full version numbers.
  2. Fences 3 or 4? and its version.
  3. What do you mean "the last update" last update for Windows or for Fences?
  4. What is your resolutions and scaling on your monitor/s.

Thanks

Yesterday I posted that the past couple of days my Fences shifted/moved after shutdown/reboot process. Well good morning, today I have no fences at all. I did the usual, reboot. Nothing. Then it said my subscription of Object Desktop was up. I purchased Fences and Groupy prior to  the purchase of Object Desktop. So, it said activate, I try, my key doesn't work. I email, they give me the exact same key I was trying. SO... uninstall Fences, reboot, reinstall, re enter key.. nothing. Fences program will come up and tell me how to. I can't draw any area on my screen and have it make a fence.  My display is 32" with a 1360x768 res, the recommended, full scaling. I had 0 issues with Fences until the day before yesterday. The fact that I can't even create a fence currently is obsurd! I'm also 100% certain there's no malware or virus situation. The fact is that Fences decided to go haywire! When I booted this morning, everything was gone. I still have to go back and get my Groupy key. I'm going to uninstall Object Desktop to see if that will help as well. Possilble conflict? I don't know. While I wait for a reply, I'm going to rule other things out. The only Stardock purchases I had prior to OD was Fences, Groupy and Start 10. Look forward to hearing back.

From reading your latest reply, look like you have few issues.

  1. Fences V4 stop working, This is because it says you need to activate it or some other error? If it is not activated, try to deactivate old activation and than reactivate it again.
  2. When you purchase Fences and Groupy before you purchase Object Desktop. Fences was for v3 or v4? Do know that Fences V3 and Fences V4 is using different license key number. If you first purchase is Fences 3 it won't work on Fences 4. Your Object Desktop license key should still work for Fences V4. You just can't download your installer from your account under Object Desktop.
  3. You can't create a Fences because Fences is not loaded most probably because it has not been activated.

Issuses indeed! Yes, my Stardock subscription expired a few days ago. I guess you get a "grace period" because mine kept working a few days post expiration.  Moving on.. I uninstalled Object Desktop, (expired), uninstalled fences, cleaned up all residuals, rebooted, reinstalled Fences, and it was successful. It downgraded me back to Fences 3 sadly. With all that handled, I was able to created a Fence and things were fine. However, upon shut down and reboot this morning, my Fences moved... again.  Two will stay where I have them, it's always that one that will move. It will shift itself up higher than the other two. When moved back to original place, it will remain, until, well the shutdown/reboot process. So I'm back to the original issue..I'm not sure if I wish to re purchase Object Desktop or not. Opinionated me thinks they should give some type of reduction in renewal to people who already own it, or offer different package deals. That's not the issue, it's the Fences moving issue, and now that it's brought up about the expiration, timeline fits to they didn't move until after the Object Desktop expired. Yes, I purchased Fences and a couple of other programs prior to OD.

First, Your software should continue to work even after your subscription expired. The only thing you can't do is to download installer that link to Object Desktop. Your Fences V4 key should also still work provided you use your saved Fences V4 installation file.

For the Fences move problem. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: [link]. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall any version of Fences you have saved, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

I had Fences 3, then I purchased ObjectDesktop shortly after that. It was through that Fences 3 upgraded. Within the OD folder Fences was "umbrellaed" there. It no longer had it's own folder. So when I booted for some reason my Fences license and Groupy codes were gone. That's not the first time that has happened. I previously had to have my license codes sent to me. The first time it put me at Fences 4, this last time, I was downgraded. I checked for updates, and none sadly. Is there a file I can get to upgrade to 4? It (4) was gone prior to uninstalling OD. I just don't have the money right now to purchase it. I gave it to myself last year as a birthday present.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe, your license key should still be display in your account page. Please check there. https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products
