Disable automatic grouping on Office apps

I don't want my office apps to be grouped, especially when there is only one instance/app running (because it adds the top tab bar to it, which doesn't go well with the office design). No matter what, I can't get it to not-group it, even when disabling automatic grouping.

Any help is appreciated!

EDIT: literally 1 minute after making this thread, i found the solution - click the 3 dots in the tab bar and untick "always show tab bar for this app".

Problem solved!
