Accessing a remote desktop across internet with the pro version

Hello, I'm using the pro version.

If I install the primary client on my laptop, and the secondary on my desktop PC at home. If I take my laptop at the office, is it possible to acces my desktop PC across the web ? or does it work only on the local network ?

and if yes, how to configure it ?

The latter, however, if there is a VPN connection that gets each PC on a shared subnet, that could work.
