Unexplained "highlight"

The first time I access the Start11 menu, 3 folders are always highlighted.  "Maintenance" and "Startup" are (Empty) and "Windows Powershell" has items in it.  When I click on them the highlight is removed.  The next time I log in the highlights are back again.  This also happened on Start 11 1.0.  Using Windows 7 Style, default theme, no visual appearance options selected except "use automatic color".  No custom menu background,

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: [link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Version numbers.
  2. Do you have Windowblinds or Curtains installed? If you do, what style is applied.

Thank you,

Now I get this on each restart.

If I had to guess, I would suspect something in them is 'new'.  They should not show like that after 2 days.

While you're at it, any word on my other post Start11 "Display as Menu" not displaying any items

The Startup and Maintenance folders are empty.  The screen shot above was after basj had me do a clean install.  I have since

restored my computer back to the way it was prior to the clean install.  My menu now shows like it did when I posted my problem.

I would be interested to see if it still shows after the time noted.

You can, if you are comfortable editing your registry, add a value to the Start8 key to manually stop it:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8

Highlight = 0

I added the value "Highlight" =0  and the highlights are now gone.
