Snapping doesn't work well

At this point, I could not live without Fences. However, I've always had an issue with it that never seems to get resolved. Perhaps it's because I have a high DPI laptop display?

In any case - I keep my fences "rolled up" - so each fence has a different height when unrolled....so when I try to drag the fences and line them up (when rolled up), sometimes they "snap" where they should, and sometimes you just can't get the fence to snap where it should.

Snapping just doesn't seem to work when they are rolled up. I've tried to play with the few settings for snapping and layout, but still have the same problem.

Let me ask first - should the snapping work horizontally, vertically or both? In other words, if I have rows and columns of rolled up fences, and I move a new fence to line up, will it align to the fence above it, aside of it, or both? See below as an example - the "RV STUFF" fence does not align to the ones next to it, but does snap to align with the one above it.

Snapping can sometimes be tricky with lots of close Fences and there can be an order of precedence (vert vs hor).

If you hold Shift will moving it, thus disabling snapping for that time, you should be able align them as you see fit.

To all bothered by snapping irregularities.

Make sure the icons are the same size in the fences you are trying to snap.  This will sync up the increments.  This is the biggest cause of staggered alignments.

Also turn off "align icons to grid" in your desktop context menu under view.  Even though this shouldn't affect anything about fences - it seems to make the spacing between fences regular.

Finally, there is great difficulty in adjusting to a small minimum spacing and less in a larger or zero spacing - so experiment with this.

Anything else will be the fault of Fences - a bug.
