  • Fixed an issue with lists sometimes showing scrolled completely off the bottom on first appearance (Win10 menu, all apps list most likely)
  • Fixed needing to click on the start button multiple times to make it open having opened an app from it sometimes using Win10 menu
  • Fixed clicking on the left-hand side of taskbar buttons on Win10 with a vertical taskbar causing start menu to open in error
  • Fixed clicking on left end of taskbar when taskbar is centered on Win11 causing start menu to open in error
  • Tweaks for blank menu on initial open sometimes
  • Fixed missing separator lines on Win7/Modern UI menus sometimes

Known issues:
  • You can drag things into the recent docs list from pinned items on the Win11 look.
  • Touch on the taskbar will never show the custom right-click menu OR win+X on the start button.

With the release of Start11 1.0 (woot), we are closing this thread.

Thanks so much to all that tested and provided feedback.

There is an issue with Win10 style start menu. If you move your cursor carefully enough, you can highlight two list items simultaneously. This could happen between the alphabet and folder, folder and application, but not alphabet and application, nor applications/folders. See the screenshot (sorry for the acutal "screenshot"):

I am running Win11 Education 22000.282 zh_CN. I really like the new version especially for the new sorting algorithm (for Chinese characters). Please keep up the good work!

Windows 11, 21H2 Build 22000.282.

Scrolling in the Windows 11 style menu doesn't work in the Start Menu, All Apps or between pages.

Big thanks for this, this is getting perfect for me!  :D

I only installed Start11 on a test laptop I have with Windows 11 installed.

I have 2 questions before I install Start11 on my main desktop.

- Will Start11 copy my layout and apps from the Windows 10 start menu?

- When I upgrade Windows 10 (with Start11 already installed and organized) to Windows 11, will my layout and apps in Start 11 remain intact?

Same here.

Scrolling doesn't work in Windows 11 and Windows 10 style.

Works in Win7 and Modern style though.

And you are using a mouse wheel or dragging the scrollbar?

Mouse and precision touchpad. Neither work.
End of toxicnerve's quote

We can reproduce a problem with a precision touchpad but scrolling with a mouse wheel should work just fine as the code for that is entirely different.

Can you scroll with the scrollbar?

Just updated to this latest version and centering of icons on my middle monitor still doesn't work.

Left Monitor (2560x1440) = Centered As expected

Centre monitor Main (3440x1440) = icons stay on the left no matter what

Right monitor (2560x1440) = centered as expected

With this latest version even a re-install doesnt fix it anymore (at least until a reboot) and the icons are stuck to the left on my main monitor

Win 10 Pro Build 19043.1288

No other taskbar related control software installed except for other object desktop software.

For the time being I have switched back to using taskbarX as that at least works consistently.

If there is any more information I can provide that would help identify the cause of this issue please let me know.

Could you download the file linked below please, run it and click the button and use ctrl+c to copy the text shown and then paste it as a reply on the forum please.

Thats without TaskbarX running and with Start11 taskbar centred taskbar enabled.

Thank you, that explains a few things.  Some of those 0's should have numbers so will look as to how that could be possible.

Are you using Stardock Curtains?

If so could you switch it to Windows default and sign out and in again and see if things centre correctly?

The list isn't painting at all?

If so please uninstall, REBOOT and reinstall as I want to rule out an installation glitch.

Also does the list show if you mouseover it or after a time period or if you resize the window taller do you see the list at the bottom of the window?

Yep I am.

Resetting to Windows 10 Default and re-logging the icons do indeed work as expected on all 3 of my monitors, even through a reboot.

So it looks like, as you may have suspected from your reply, that there is something in curtains that is interfering with the icons location on my main monitor at least.

Can that be fixed ?

Mouse over the list and the list will eventually be displayed, but there is a delay of a few seconds,I have reinstalled the software, restarted the computer, and deleted the picture of the start menu

What happens if you do not mouseover the list?

Also what if you close and then reopen the menu?  Is this only a problem the very first time the list appears?

In fact, do not put the mouse on the list, the list will eventually be displayed, but it will take longer.                                                                This is the case every time the start menu is opened, but there is no such problem in the Chinese version that has not been updated, and the menu is very smooth.

How many items do you have in your all programs list would you say (approximately)?
