Start11 - where 'pin to start menu' stuff stored?

i have a pile of shortcuts i'd like to pin to the start11 start menu. doing them one at a time will be a pain. is there a folder i can drag and drop them into to do them all at once.

also - when i right-click [by long press] on the taskbar all i get is the crippled win11 taskbar settings link. i've set it to give me the win10 menu. ???

thanks

Really old thread but I was looking for this question and had to figure it out myself, but I found it.

The data for what is pinned and where is actually stored in the registry at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini

Also it is still "Start8" in the path even if using Start11. Then the data seems to be stored in two places in different formats, in the "GroupContents" and "GroupContents11" keys/folders. The names of the groups seem to be defined in the "Groups" and "Groups11" keys/folders. I haven't figured out what determines which something goes into though - some stuff seems to appear in one or the other, while other stuff appears in both.

Though unfortunately for OP, manually adding items this way would be way harder than just pinning it the normal way. But it might be good to know if you want to manually go in and change the launch command for one of the shortcuts or something. Though even then, it would probably be easier to just make a shortcut using Windows how you want it, then pinning that.

Hope that helps anyone searching for this.

i'd like to bump this to try again :-)

start11 v2 has several new start menu styles and i'd like to try them but that would require repinning all of the [many] apps i've already pinned and, unless i work from a screenshot i don't know how to be sure i'd get them all.  is there really no way to sync among the styles?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. From what I can conclude, Windows 7 and Modern style share Pinned items between them. Windows 10 style has its own Pinned items. Windows 11, Windows app, Windows Pro and Windows launcher style share share their pinned items between them.

Thanks
