Latest version does not work

I just upgraded.  This is what I get every single time Fences runs.
"Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly.  As precaution, Fences has been temporarily disabled."

When I enable it again it just happens again.

1) Windows version 1607 (Build 14393.0).

2) The latest version, I guess its 3.13.

Everything was fine on the older version for years.  I just allows the update to happen and now that error happens.

Hello,

It might very well because you're running very old version of Windows 10. Any reason you're not updating to more current Windows 10 version such as Windows 10 V20H2 or later?

Thank you,

No reason, but its still Windows 10.  Why can't it just work?  Its not like I'm running Windows 7 or something.  I'll try to downgrade I guess.  Is there a direct link to the older installers somewhere?

You do know that Windows 10 evolved very much between each versions. That is why Fences also need evolve accordingly with new version very so often. If you wish to stay with older Windows 10 version. I would suggest to use older version Fences for compatibility sake.

Unrelated to Fences but that version of Windows 10 may not be getting updates if it is a consumer version apart from specific situations.

I would strongly urge you to consider upgrading it to a newer release of Windows 10 if you are able to as yours is 5 years old.

Where can I download older versions of Fences?  I can't use it now unless I get a previous version.

Latest Version of Fences 3.1.3.3 does not work, after installation desktop went blank had roll back to version 3.9.0.11

Lucky for me I had a downloaded older version.

I have latest Windows as of 8/12/21:  windows version-10 Pro 64 bit, build Version-21H1, OS build-19043.1165

Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0

No amount of setting changes would enable Fences. Very buggy release.

Have to stay with older version: Please let us know when it will be fixed.

Latest Win10 64 with latest Fences and I keep getting the Explorer error loop so I can not provide exact version numbers. As I always update to latest, my assumption I that I have the latest.

My system is unusable as i have not been able to start in safe mode to prevent Fences from starting.

I am using my cell phone to send this message.

While I considered doing a purge, there is no way I can even download and install the bat file as I can not get past the error loop to do so.

I just tried, and the link works, so it must me something at your end. Some more information why you can't download it would be helpful. What happens if you right click the link to the bat file an choose "save as"?

Since I was stuck in the error loop, I could never download the bat file as the error looped too soon to even initiate aa download.

After doing a system restore, as I mentioned before, I am now back to Fences 3.09 and will remain there until posts indicate that a newer version has solved the problem. It took me the better part of a day to get my system restore to work, check my email and get caught up with everything, and I can not afford the time right now attempt a purge and re-install of 3.13.

Thank you for the reply however, and I will return to this issue in the future.

I am reporting Fences breaking WIN11 using Error Dialogue Loop. Here is the error dialogue that crops up during the loop. This is the same error folks are getting running WIN10 and the latest StarDock Fences (see purchase StarDock below). The desktop becomes totally useless after loop begins and you have do magic in order to uninstall Fences. Uninstalling is the only method that works in order to gain desktop control again.

I went through and purchased the latest Start11 and associated Object Desktop and this did not fix the problem either. Unfortunately, the loss of control of the desktop is a major issue since your platform becomes useless. This is a major show stopper! The error dialogue that gets displayed during this loop, starts with the following Error Message:

“Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly”

Using latest version of Windows same error loop had to reboot computer as it locked me out of everything... then uninstall all stardock software.  Fences breaks Windows but Windowsblinds has text and framing issues as well.
