7/22/21: Update 1

Uninstalled v3.1, rebooted and reinstalled v3.03

At least that's working for now!

Same problem will not reenable because explorer did not close correctly. Will not re enable.

Just installed the update.  Same error every time I try to enable Fences..

Fences has been working perfectly for years until now.

Not cool.

Hooray, do not know what I did but suddenly my Fences appeared again. Microsoft said problem is with Stardock not them.

What change? Few reboot and it came back working? Any hint will help us iron out the issue here. Appreciate all the help.

I have the same problem after the update.  I rebooted several times.  No change.  Then I opened Fences and on the Home page unchecked "Enable Fences" under basic options.  Then I rebooted.  Then I opened Fences.  It asked if I wanted to enable Fences.  I clicked no.   After everything was up, I opened Fences and checked the "Enable Fences" check box.  This fixed it for me until I moved an icon on the desktop which moved when I enabled fences.  Then the problem returned after several screen redraws.  So it works until you move an icon.

So, when you reenable Fences it seems to return to a memorized icon placement.  Then when you move the icons back, Fences flashes the screen a few times and then disables itself.

Aug 30, 2021, same issue just happened to me today (first time).  Stardock Fences version 3.1.3.3.  Windows 10 verion 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1165).  This is my home computer, not corporate machine (that so many posts are about).  Just running Windows Security (no 3rd Party security apps).

I'm running a version that is later than the version where Stardock says they fixed this issue.  No doubt, not fixed. What's next Stardock?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling. Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.
