Same here. With update 3.1 Fences stopped working, telling me that "Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly". Don't know how to get this issue solved - reinstall does not work, always the same error. Looks like bad coding, guys. It already wasted me an hour of my time - so please DO FIX THIS immediately - I'd also suggest you to better retract this buggy update. Thanks.

@wernhard21

Try reply #3 Purge is different than a regular uninstall

see if that works for you please and report back here .

Thx for reply. Did execute the purge as admin, after that unistall (Steam version) ... and reboot. Then reinstall (Steam version) into a new folder - and trying to start Fences. But: the same error occured "Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly...".

So - same situation. Fences worked like a charm until this latest update... I tried the Purge twice - 2nd time with restart after each step. No effect, the error message remains.

Same issue here.  My windows is fine. the only change is 3.1 update.  It is the problem!

As I am sure you all suspect by now the 3.1update has an issue.  For any of us that have executed there list of things to try you will no doubt have come to the same conclusion.  DO NOT bother to "Purge" your install, as doing so will likely cause you to loose all your settings, especially if you have not made a backup of the directory.  I selected save my settings, and still lost my extensive setup.  I reinstalled version 3.09, and was back up and running fine.

Got it sorted ... at least for the moment. The suggested Rollback to well working v3.09.11 (Steam version) was the solution - all settings lost, but so what. Always remember: better do not update too fast...
