My nasty litestep experience..

Now don't get me wrong.. I like LiteStep. If you have a good theme, it works great. But allow me to share the episodes of this afternoon with you.
I spotted some nifty looking ls themes and thought I would give it a whirl again, so I d'loaded the latest and greatest version and fired it up. All was well, until..... I loaded a (nameless) theme... that I can only assume hated me having 2 monitors?
Well, nothing but a black screen..
You know that feeling you get.. when all the blood leaves your face at once.. that's what I got.
After pledging eternal damnation to the creator of this theme and overcoming a grand desire to place my foot firmly through the front of my PC, I got creative.. hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE, brought up task mgr, got command prompt up, changed to the ls directory and typed uninstall.exe ..... all was well upon rebooting again and the blood returned to my face.

The moral... One should indeed at least make an effort to read some docs.. (although we all know, to be a true computer geek is to shun the docs until desperation sets in)

Have a great weekend all...

the blood leave the face was the funny part..

it only returning after the computer was back to normal is even funnier!

Who hasn't been there (although for other reasons)

instructions are for suckers and people who want to do things right.

.:[insert normal responce to whenever someone mentions LS]:.

I tried LS years ago and have 'hated' it ever since. Some like it, some dont thats just the way of life.
Since then I have gotten 'wiser' and ...... (nope no Jafo around) switched to the much more "calmer" Hoverdesk, where themes always work

Before you blow of any steam and decide to remove any blood from my head (with an icepick): yeah yeah I know I know, you really cant compare the two apps but I just wanted to, for once, sound "cool" hehe

Hey..LITESTEP RULES! I love it! I found if a theme is not OTS compliant I do not use it. If it is OTS compliant it is simple to install and use. Jafo helped me a bunch.

I tried Litestep once, only because Hippy's FusionLS theme looked so good. My opinion on LS is 'bleh'. I don't hate it, but will never use it again.

I had Litestep on my desktop for 2 years solid! I loved it, but then I discovered DesktopX, which was much easier to work with from a themers point of view, so I switched. I recently installed it again, but so much had changed in the way that the step.rc was written that I couldn't face the learning curve all over again.

I still have it installed though, and when I see a cool looking theme on one of the Litestep sites, I give it a run out just for fun.

four words........RTFM. hehe.

Strangely....I have never 'installed' LiteSTEP, nor have I ever 'uninstalled' it....but I have always used it....since early days of b21 and b23....when it did bugger-all and did it badly....
