Issue with grouping 1.49.1

Hi, when I drag an application over a group in most cases I can see the tab message "Insert group here", but there it stops and does not group additional app, when I let go.

Thanks and best regards

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows version, please use Winver.exe for full version numbers.
  2. Please elaborate more on your issue. Not grouping on specific applications or not grouping after there is 3 tabs or more?
  3. Also post what your setting on "When Should groupy combine windows".

Thanks

Hi,

1. Windows version 21H1, build 19043.1052

2. After there is 3 tabs or more.

3. Always grouping (I have German version: Fenster beim Aufeinanderziehen immer gruppieren)

Thanks a lot !

Hello,
Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/488142/groupy-support-faq#reinstalling. Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Thank you,

It shows that your main admin account is corrupted. Please get back to your main account and see if it working? If it not try running "SFC /scannow" command.

Please try the following:

-For Win8/10 Users: Open the Start Screen, and type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator' from below.

-For 7 Users: click Start, in the start search field type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator'.

-Type: sfc /scannow

-Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)

Some help on how this looks should you need it:

If the SFC finds errors, but cannot fix them, please also run the following command in the same command prompt window:

dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Some help on how this looks should you need it:

The above command should assist with replacing any damaged or problematic system files. Please note, however, since it may require restoring certain files, this process can take some time and you will need to be patient until it has completed.

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

Than, its two choice, do a new Windows clean install or use your new admin account.

Hi again,

so I am working on setting up my new admin account for the last 3 hours.....

Now I figured out, what the problem was. It was a simple setting in System/Advanced settings/Visual Effects.

Just turn the red marked function off and it works fine. I enclosed a screenshot for you, so you can add it to the knowledge base or maybe faq on your website for others, so they do not have to setup new admin accounts.

Thanks

Is that related to specific application for Steaming? Apowersoft Streaming Audio Recorder? So this won't happen if that software is not installed and use?

You must have display window content when dragging enabled as otherwise Groupy does not get notified about window moves etc.

I assume you mean you must have the option enabled (I.e. windows default) for Groupy to work, rather than disabled?

It is the function marked with red arrow in Windows 10 Settings-Info-Advanced system settings which needs to be activated. Otherwise it does not work. The tabs are only examples with more then 3 tabs grouped by groupy.

Thanks
