Is marraige a good idea?

Is marraige a good idea?

I was thinking about getting married... although I am not serious with anyone

But is it a good idea? I like it... or the idea of it anyway. It just seems so peaceful and all that one-ness.

After reading this artical I am not to sure:

I'm so gullable.

1Now about the questions you asked in your letter. Yes, it is good to live a celibate life. 2But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.
7I wish everyone could get along without marrying, just as I do. But we are not all the same. God gives some the gift of marriage, and to others he gives the gift of singleness.
8Now I say to those who aren't married and to widows--it's better to stay unmarried, just as I am. 9But if they can't control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It's better to marry than to burn with lust.26Because of the present crisis, I think it is best to remain just as you are. 27If you have a wife, do not end the marriage. If you do not have a wife, do not get married. 28But if you do get married, it is not a sin. And if a young woman gets married, it is not a sin. However, I am trying to spare you the extra problems that come with marriage.
29Now let me say this, dear brothers and sisters: The time that remains is very short, so husbands should not let marriage be their major concern. 30Happiness or sadness or wealth should not keep anyone from doing God's work. 31Those in frequent contact with the things of the world should make good use of them without becoming attached to them, for this world and all it contains will pass away. 32In everything you do, I want you to be free from the concerns of this life. An unmarried man can spend his time doing the Lord's work and thinking how to please him. 33But a married man can't do that so well. He has to think about his earthly responsibilities and how to please his wife. 34His interests are divided. In the same way, a woman who is no longer married or has never been married can be more devoted to the Lord in body and in spirit, while the married woman must be concerned about her earthly responsibilities and how to please her husband.
35I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible. 36But if a man thinks he ought to marry his fiancee because he has trouble controlling his passions and time is passing, it is all right; it is not a sin. Let them marry. 37But if he has decided firmly not to marry and there is no urgency and he can control his passion, he does well not to marry. 38So the person who marries does well, and the person who doesn't marry does even better.

I have to get in on this . I'm thinking about gettin married in about 2-3years. I've been with my fiancee for almost 4years. We have a son. But we have to wait till we both are done with college before anything can happen. But here is a pic of us not too long after our son was born. That was about 2 1/2 years ago.

Plus after that article, I really wonder where mine would end up. But I got something that alot of other marriages don't have even before I would get married. Knowledge on the subject. If you get married and don't know what it will require, you will definally probably end up seperating. Alot of people just rush into marriage. I've seen alot of my friends either wanting or getting married after they graduated from high school. I just think that's too soon.

I'll return to add more later.

My marriage was both "good" and "bad". Bad, because it turned out that my ex-wife needed more than one man. Good, because when she left and moved out of state she left me with two of the most wonderful boys you could ask for. I was blessed with the opportunity to raise them alone. I wouldn't change a thing! I've considered it one of the most fullfilling things I've ever done. I can't even think about it being any different. However, I probably would have felt the same way if she would have been a good wife and mother. I think the moral here is that marriage and life both bring to you the things you look for in them. If you look for only the bad, you will find it. If you look for good, you will find it. If you take what comes and find the positive, you will find that too! Although the marriage was bad, what came from it was wonderful.

I'd love to be married, especially if it's one of those spontaneous marriages like on Dharma and Greg.

My husband and i have been married for 19 years (it sounds like a long time doesn't it), but the years have flown by in a pleasant blur. We have two kids (12 and 14 both girls)and they do tend to keep us busy! I didn't think it could happen but our marriage keeps getting better every year. I have been very lucky with my husband. He is my best freind, and we are a team against the world out there. Our marriage has not always been easy (we are both very stubborn) but we always work hard to fix whatever problems crop up. I would have to say that I truly don't regret marrying him. I really hope joetheblow can find someone like that for himself. And now I will stop preaching. Good Luck!

Man, I just don't know.
But from these posts I would say I look at marraige a little better now.

Joe.........its what you make it and you always have to keep working at it.

Kids make a maariage. They are a lot of work but the pleasure you get from them is incredible.

Good Luck

Kids make a maariage.....

hmmm, Deborah and I have been very happily married for 16+ years now. No kids.

What we do have is a huge amount of love, mutual respect, and constant support. We look after each other. I think these things are what makes a marriage.

Children may be a nice addition to the mix, but I don't think they are what 'makes' a marriage.

Last Thursday my wife and I celebrated our 29th anniversary, and I have to admit is has been the best years of my life! At the time I wasn't sure marraige was for me, but in retrospect it was the best decision I ever made. I was VERY wild and as I now look back at my old friends who haven't setteled down or who are now dead, it puts my decision in proper perspective. It hasen't been children that has kept us happily together as we have no children (only the furry four footed kind) but a true mutual respect & trust that allows each other to grow independently. I wish you luck with your decision, take your time and you will know if the time is right.

.....Sorry but, what the hell's that got to do with Wincustomize??? I mean, shouldn't you try going to a website message board dedicated to that kind of topic? I really honestly believe this is the most irrelevant post i've ever read

/me pops in to reply on this...

Hello Mr. Janx

You are correct that this thread has nothing to do with WinCustomize. This is a Skinning site where people come to enjoy uploading and downloading of skins, themes and walls. We use the Message Board to discuss and interact with others about our love for Skinning.

But here comes the human element. Over time, the interaction leads to friendship and friendship leads to a sense of familia(family). So now "irrelevant post" like this one start popping up.

Are you starting to understand what I am trying to say?

/me wonders if he is understanding what he just said himself... :not sure:

Mr. Janx, I once questioned the validity of having political discussions on the messageboards here at WinCustomize. Here is what I was told by Administrator KarmaGirl:

"....Saying that you don't like political discussions and don't like seeing them here is one thing. Repeatedly posting to a thread *telling* people to quit discussing it is different. Understand?"

This indicates to me that any topic is fair game here. Obviously this would also include discussions about marriage.

I believe this is the official line.

One thing I did learn about long term relationships is that you get to see evrything about your mate...

Everything

I felt in my heart that you know your really together... well not to sound nasty or anything but... when your both go use the bathroom together one someone has to pee... and no one leaves the bathroom is the coolest thing ever!!!

I agree with both of you. Yet, I still believe that I am right in that those sort of topics should be pursued in the correct chat rooms / message boards to avoid obscuring this message board which is entitled for all users to talk about customizing their Windows systems. Political and personal messages aren't really anything to do with that, unless it influences their usage on Windows. I am not protesting or anything like that, In fact, I am still kind of new to this site. I was just curious as to why these sort of messages are being posted on a site that has nothing to do with the postings. Still.
