Issues with Desktop since Win1020h2 update

Desktop icons in a pile and Fences empty

Since updating my Asus Zenbook UX305 to Win 10 20h2  every time I reboot all my desktop icons are in a pile  and most of my Fences are empty. The icons of software that I have placed on my taskbar also disappear. Once I  have restored from the layout snapshot they come back and the taskbar icons also return. I have used Fences for many years and never had this problem. Is it not compatible with this latest Win10 update?  Or nothing to do with Fences? I have searched various forums but my problem has not been featured. It is a nuisance having to do this every time a restart.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know on your issue.

  1. Full Windows version numbers. Use Winver.exe for it.
  2. Fences version numbers.
  3. Do you have Desktop Sync with Onedrive turn on?

I have the same issue but sometimes my screen will go blank or lock up as well.

Fences 3.0.11

Yes, I am syncing to OneDrive  but only chosen data folders on D Drive - My SSD is partitioned and desktop is on C which is not being copied to OneDrive. 

The only thing that has changed recently is the update from 1909 to 20H2  - all OneDrive syncing rules have not been changed. Fences were working perfectly before the update.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Thanks for instructions. So far so good - all seems to be back to normal. Will report if  it happens again when there is a Windows update.

Sometimes happened, but I can't get the principle into it, e.g. dual srceen change into single srceen. It is using with Wallpaper Engine.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. The OP issue was on missing icons on Stardock Fences. Your screenshot is showing on your taskbar, yes? How is it similar to your issue? Please elaborate.
