fences crashes when connecting to VPN

I have Fences installed on my computer with an i7-7700K processor and 32GB of RAM. It works perfectly until I connect to the VPN using the FortiClient program. I have several Fences configured on the desktop that work perfectly without connecting to the VPN, once I connect to the VPN all the Fences work except one as the latter causes the desktop to become unresponsive causing the desktop to "reboot" (going blank at times).

I hope you can help me.

Thank you very much in advance and best regards,

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

  • What version of Fences \ Windows?
  • Has it always done this... or no... this is a new development?  If the latter, what has changed?
  • Is one \ many of the Fences of the Folder Portal variety?
  • Are the desktop files syncing when you do connect (OneDrive, DropBox, etc)?  If you stop the sync from occurring, does it resolve it?

Hello sdRohan

  • What version of Fences \ Windows?
    • The version of Fences is 3.0.9.11 and Windows version is Windows 10 Pro 20H2
  • Has it always done this... or no... this is a new development?  If the latter, what has changed?
    • Always.
  • Is one \ many of the Fences of the Folder Portal variety?
    • It only happens on one Desktop Fences out of the five I have configured.
  • Are the desktop files syncing when you do connect (OneDrive, DropBox, etc)?  If you stop the sync from occurring, does it resolve it?
    • No, Don't syncing Desktop to OneDrive, DropBox

It only happens when I connect to the VPN (Forticlient), without being connected to the VPN it works perfectly.

Thank you for advanced.

Regards,

End of RAguilar's quote

Meaning, if that Fence is eliminated, it does not happen?  What is special about the Fences - is it a Folder portal or a regular Fence?

Hello,

If I delete the last one created, the failure is reproduced in the last one created of those that still exist. This error only occurs when I connect to a VPN.

They are all rolled up regular fences.

Note: Today it does not seem to be happening without having changed anything. I had the problem since the installation (1 month).

Thank you for advanced.

Hello,

After a few more months of this I have noticed that this happens when connected to the VPN or not connected to the VPN and it also happens when removing all the roll-up Fences.

I have the software installed on two different computers and it happens on both.

I get stuck on my desktop with the mouse pointer loading and it often returns an error saying: "Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed correctly....".

I hope you can help me as it is a very useful program that I would like to use without constant problems.

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Almost without exception, we see this on corp-provided PCs that have increased security settings or app.
