DBL Clicking

Each time I double click a shortcut, Fences goes black and disappears as if I DBL clicked in space. How do I stop this behavior?

No, I don't want to disable this feature, but it should only work when dbl click on the empty desktop. Not on every icon i chose.

I would first try a purge and reinstall.

If you still have an issue, please list the version of Fences and the OS you are using.
