Turn OFF auto-arrange icons

I've just now spent some time in the forums and haven't found a definitive answer to my question.

I want to know if the auto-arrange icons feature can be turned OFF, so that I can drag and drop icons to random locations within a fence.

I find that forum questions are typically answered by asking a string of questions, such as: "What version are you running? . . . " To me, this is quite off-putting. A better reply would be: 1) "No, the feature can't be turned off in current versions.", or 2) "The feature does exist in Fences. Let's figure out why it's not working on your machine . . .  ." I challenge any responder to offer a reply of this type.  (Sometimes the software developers must be queried . . . I know, they left, or they dare not be interrupted.)

Hello,
No, there is not such option in current version of Fences. But, there were few feature request put in by others on this option.

Hi,

I need this feature as well, without it I cannot use Fences. I need to arrange the icons within a fence as I would like it and have NO auto arrangement whatsoever. Many years ago there was a tool which was using a square "spreetsheet pattern and you was able to put each icon into a specific position.

 

Sorting features are great but not for the icons on my desktop - I am a "pattern" guy and remember the "pattern" to find the neccessary icon.
