Does not run on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

I installed the product and it comes up, showing a screen, the icon a swirl.  Then it shuts off.  No error.  No window.

Anyone have a fix?

What doesn't run? Which software?

The Object Desktop.  Latest version, just purchased about a week ago.  Everything else in the bundle works fine.

Object Desktop is a collection of different software, not a software itself. Did you mean ObjectDock?

Guessing he means Object Desktop Manager, but just a guess.

You could try right click, run as admin.

Or right click, properties, compatibility tab. Try settings there.

Tried that several times.  It starts, a form is displayed, the cursor spins as if loading, and it all goes away.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you tried uninstall, re-download the ODM installer from your account, reinstall, reboot the system and retest it?

Thanks

Yes, I have done so.  I have tried Windows 7/8/Vista compatibility, running as Admin, etc.

Are you trying this on a work PC?  The logs here are showing that your PC does not like how we are encrypting the data.

There is always the option to get the apps from your account page:

I have already done so.

So basically, it doesn't work.  And the solution is for me to manually check for updates for each product.

So much for efficiency, right?

And no, this is not a work computer.  This is my home PC.

Well, did you happen to mess with FIPS at all (turn it on)? It seems to be the source of the errors we are seeing.

Well, Yes and No.  For reasons unclear, Object Desktop Manager itself has been problematic on some customers' computers for years now (lots of posts about it here).  Sounds like your particular rig is one of them; same for me in the past.  It works flawlessly on many, if not most, though.

It's really just a 'portal' to the individual apps and provided as a convenient way to 'manage' them (when it works).  It's not needed to install, use or update any of the individual Object Desktop applications.  I've always found it simpler to just use the My Downloads page at store.stardock.com to download all the individual apps, which I would recommend you do for archiving purposes in any event.  Each application's configuration dialog has a setting to enable update alerts so manual checking for updates is generally not needed.

Thanks for the information.  FIPS was turned off already

I understand.  I have a Delphi package handler from TMS software that manages my subscription with them, about 12 different packages.  I use it to keep up to date with their releases. It also uses encryption (AES) and has no problem on my setup.  Thanks for the feedback.

There are 2 different places where FIPS is set.  One, from the referenced article at the beginning of the link, was set off.  The other, further down in the article under "Administration Policy" was set on.  After turning it off, without a reboot, has made the portal work.

Thank you!
