Top half of window disappears offscreen when maximized

Doesn't happen when Groupy disabled, doesn't happen when Actual Windows Rol Up disabled

Hi,

For a screenshot click HERE.

Having an issue between two third party programs. Groupy and Actual Windows Roll Up. I have submitted a bug report to the Actual Windows Roll Up devs and submitted a post in their community forums. Here is a re-post so Groupy people know whats going on. I am not sure how to submit a bug report to the Groupy Dev's - if anyone could help me out that would be cool.

My re-post below. Thanks All.

=====================

I have started a bug report via email (Actual Windows Bug Report - waiting on information to submit Groupy bug report) but wanted to post here also to see if this is happening to anyone else and if anyone has found a work around/resolution.

And just to get my feelings about modern Operating Systems out of the way (I'm 57 and have a hard time with change: I'm a grumpy older person for sure:-):

I am both a Winblows (7/10) and a Linsucks (insert type/release/flavor here) user. Yes they both blow and they both suck, albeit in different ways. Unfortunately for all of us, they are waaaayyyyy better than any other alternative OS (MacOS and OSX are just bastardized versions of Unix and Linux and therefore also suck) and we're stuck with them. Sigh...

Thanks.
===========My actual post below====================
Hi,

I've tracked this down to Actual Windows Rollup.

First:

Windows 10 2004 build 19041.450 64bit (do people still use 32bit? huh!)
Actual Windows Roll Up version 8.14.3
Star Dock Groupy version 1.41

I have 3 monitors. All with normal physical orientation

Left side - 1920*1080
center -     2560*1440
right side - 1920*1080
Attached some screenshots of this issue.

I have them aligned so that the bottom of the actual screens line up (as opposed to the bottoms of the monitors which DO NOT line up). I just paid for an updated version of Actual Windows Roll Up because apparently the last version is NOT compatible with the Windows 2004 update and neither, apparently, is the updated version I just paid for completely compatible either.

On a positive note - this is the only "bug" I've faced so far with Windows 2004 and Actual Windows Roll Up 8.14.3. Major disaster to me, but most likely minor annoyance to most people.

With Actual Windows Roll Up / Groupy activated and in use:

When I have a File Explorer window open on the center window and I maximize it - it maximizes as expected
When I have a File Explorer window open on  either the left or right side monitors and I maximize the window the whole windows shifts so that half of it is displayed from the top of the monitor down to halfway. So bottom half of the monitor displays the window UNDER file explorer and FILE explorer appears as half a window with the toolbars off screen.

If I disable Actual Windows Roll Up - all file explorer windows act as they should.
If I disabled Groupy but leave Actual Windows Roll Up active  the file explorer acts as expected.

So far I have discovered that this is either a compatibility issue between Actual Windows Roll Up and either Groupy or Windows 10. Probably Groupy so I am also posting this in the Groupy forum, as is-they way you see it here. Copy/Paste is a wonderful thing.

Please advise me how to fix this as Actual Windows Roll Up is pretty much unusable in this state.

Thank YOU.

The setting "Combine tab bar with title bar if possible" is causing this.

When I select "always place tab bar above title bar" the ill effect does not happen.

This has started since groupy 1.41/Windows 2004 and an Actual Window Rollup upgrades.

Yes all three of you upgraded and god only knows what is causing this.

Basj, can you advise me on how to download to a previous version of Groupy?

I would very much like to downgrade at this time because the title bar looks butt fugly with the tab bar sitting on top of it. Upper right hand corner of windows explorer I see two "X"s or close buttons. One on the Groupy tab bar and one on the Windows explorer bar. Is the X on the Groupy tab bar really necessary, when the two bars are combined I see only one X or close button, how come when the bars are not combined I see two X's?

Thanks,

I just uninstalled 1.41, reboot, install 1.43 beta, reboot. Problem still there.

It really is an issue for me, my OCD goes bat shit crazy whenever I look in the upper right corner of the window and I see those TWO X (close buttons) on top of each other, I wanna just scream.

If I absolutely have to have the tab bar on top of the title bar is there a way go get rid of Groupy's close window button?

End of Yodabug's quote

Please disable/un-tick "Show close all button on tab bar when in tabs above mode"

Thank You BasJ. That works for me.

Is there a place to download a previous version of Groupy for me to test?

Just to let everyone know, I have not changed the DPI settings of Windows on purpose. BUT, I do have a Gsync compatible graphics card and I do run my main desktop monitor at 90Hrz while the other two (the ones with the problem) run at 60Hrz.

I DO NOT adjust the Windows Scaling size - it is set at default of 100%, however, "let windows fix apps so they're not blurry is on". Turning it off does not resolve the maximize windows "bug" (I'm going to call it that, even if it isn't, simply because this has never happened to me before).

Cheers All.

I wish I could edit an existing post - either way, I just disabled Gsync, reset the refresh rate on the 1440p monitor to default (60Hrz) and enabled combine Groupy tab bar if possible. The issue is still there, so Gsync/refresh rate not responsible.

Hello,

Would just like to let you know that if you just need those Windows to roll up and down for using "Actual Windows Roll Up". You should try Stardock's WindowFX which have Windows Roll and unroll by just right click on the titlebar. And WindowFX is compatible with Groupy. More on WindowFX here : https://www.stardock.com/products/windowfx/

or you can try Stardock's Windowblinds where a lot of themes that come with a rollup button. Which you don't need 3rd party application to do the rollup down Windows. More on Windowblinds here : https://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/

Just a quick note.

Stardock Groupy has been causing me issues.

For the past week my system has been experiencing slow boots ( I have an NvME and when it takes more than 5 minutes to reach desktop something is wrong) and slow restarts (on the way down it never shuts off-just keeps displaying Restarting with a busy circle), I have left it at restarting for over 3 hours, it never restarts-I have to use the power button to shut it off and then start it up again.  I have started a new job so haven't been able to troubleshoot as much as I have wanted to to. This weekend, with some time off, I have been troubleshooting for two days (Saturday we had Thanks Giving Dinner so yesterday and today).

What I found is if I uninstall Star-docks Groupy all the program hangs, desktop manager hangs, restart/startup problems go away. If I then reinstall Star dock Groupy they all return after the very first boot.

I have no clue if this is Star docks programming or some other software conflicting with star docks Groupy application. And, frankly, I do not care.

All I know is that when I updated to the latest version of Stardocks Groupy I had issues with maximizing windows explorer (some conflict with Actual Windows Manager rollup) where I had no issues before and star-docks answer to this is uninstall Actual Windows Manager roll up and purchase our Windows FX application?

Sorry, but that is as bullshit an answer as I could ever get from any support group and I know because I AM a support group for 3 different companies.

I had to make a choice today and I chose to uninstall Stardock Groupy because that is the absolutely fastest way to get my PC back under my control.

I will TRY to install the next release of Stardock Groupy because I LIKE the program and what it does for my work flow. I will also look to actual windows rollup to see if they provide a similar application to  use.

I have spent entirely TOO MUCH TIME on a program that should (and did in past iterations) work flawlessly and not crap out my whole windows installation!

If someone one were to ask for a recommendation about Stardock software one year ago I would tell them go for it, some of the best software I have ever used. Today I would say stay far away until they work out their in-house issues.

Have a nice day.
