Windows Update Destroyed My Desktop

Windows Update just struck, leaving nothing on my desktop but a random scattering of my least important icons.  Tried restoring via Fences, but the only desktop layouts shown are from a year or more ago.  Is my latest desktop layout still in my computer, and if so, how can I retrieve it?  Rebuilding it by hand will take me days.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Fences backups are stored here - C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Stardock\Fences\Backups

Restoring your PC with system restore before the update should work .

Oops! Total misdiagnosis on my part. Update was not involved.

What happened was, when rebooting, I accidentally signed in as Administrator rather than my main identity.  Had not used Administrator much, and apparently not at all since last September or October.  Changing back to my main identity fixed it all.
