Trouble with new themes

Hi, I was using curtains for a bit, went to blinds and now I want to go back to curtains. I have a  few downloaded themes from earlier but now when I try to download some from the UI directly it will flash "Installing" reallly quickly then change back to "Download". I have tried purging and reinstalling already. Any ideas? Thank You

https://youtu.be/21X-ksEllKg  video is there. So youll see me go to "online" and I'll tryt and get the theme titles "bark" i double click it and then it flashes install then goes back, I go and check the local themes and it's not there. I continue to try this with other themes in the video as well, with no luck. I also tried downloading a theme from this website and applying it and it just isnt recognizing it, No matter where I put it.

Please try the purge and reinstalling steps as mentioned in the link. https://forums.stardock.com/500728/curtains-support-faq#CurtainsPurge . Make sure to re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot the pc after the purge. Reinstall it. Reboot again and retest. Report back here.

I told you, I already did that in my original post. Like how I learned about a purge .bat file in the first place was finding that link on google and following its instruction. I'll do it again just for shits. but I can promise you it's not going to work.

I had an idea though, would windows update have anything to do with it? This stupid dev channel for 20h1 has completely screwed windows update and ive been unable to update. I used the media creation too then did an in place upgrade then did a clean install both times it didnt work. So they just ignore me now. My questions just go unanswer in the forums after they tell me to use system file checker (sfc /scannow) and or repair the image with DISM for the nine hundredth time.
Anyways, windows update says "2020-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems (KB4566782) is ready to install" it just fails every time. Currently i'm on Windows 10 Home, version 2004, OS Build 19041.388 Build. Update would be my best guess, so if you knew a work around or temp solution maybe? Thank you.

I've been using an updated version of Object Desktop to get my install of all stardock software. Should I source it from somewhere else?

You can download directly from your account : https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products and try those instead. and If you can try cleanboot to see if something is blocking Curtains : https://forums.stardock.com/500728/curtains-support-faq#CurtainsServiceStart

Try those and report back.

No it just wont do anything. I put it in the right folder and I see nothing. On second thought, I tried it with only one theme "Barks". And that theme doesnt even show the loading animation. So i'm going to go try it with a different theme and put it in the folder.

Good idea, but no luck. I just removed all checks from the msconfig bootlist but because curtains was on that list i got an error. I went back and enabled it, still getting the same result. What I can do is make a new theme and I can edit current themes. And the correct action will occur in the curtains UI.
Just to make sure i'm putting these in the right folder. I tried both directories, I was curious how the rest were in folders with multiple files and these are just one file. So i tried creating a new folder in the directory and i saw no change in the UI of curtains. These packaged files go in one of these two directories right?

Not really sure on your situation here. But if your Curtains is install properly. You just need to double click on the downloaded "xxx.CurtainsStyle" files and it will install itself into Curtains. And it should be located in here : C:\users\public\documents\stardock\curtains.

Need to know more on your system.

1) Windows version numbers. : Please use Winver.exe for full Windows version numbers.

2) Installed Antivirus/security software.

3) Did you install Curtains in its default directory? Did you change it and install it in a different directory?

From the screenshot you are having something changing your system fonts. What program you are using for those?

Hmm I gave you most of that information already but here it is again.
Windows Version: 2004
Build: 19041.388
Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware: Windows Defender/Malwarebytes
Curtains64.exe/CurtainsConfig.exe: D drive ( I boot from an SSD on my C drive). So yes i did change the install directory

I'll guess youre going to say reinstall it to the unchanged directory on my C drive and try that now..

Hmm nope didn't work. Are there any temp folders or folders that hold settings or any curtains related stuff that the uninstall would not get? Maybe deleting those would help? Deleting any registry entries?  But it's ok, after trying all this stuff i'm about 95% sure its the windows update issue. It's been the cause of so many issues before especially regarding other software. It's like they have an algorithm, "if user isnt updated, break all 3rd party software". Unless you have any other ideas, I'll work on getting the update installed and go from there. Thank you for the help though, I appreciate it a lot.

It looks like the issue is an extraction one.  Do any files get put in the packaged styles folder when you download them?

You should be able to manually extract them (they are renamed zip files) to the main curtains folder where styles are.

I don't know if you got it fixed, but I had the same issue and did all the purging and clean install with no luck. I used 7zip and extracted the .curtainsStyle file to the public user documents Stardock curtains folder and it works perfectly now.

It is most definitely an extraction issue, as above I can rename to zip and unzip to the installed folders then the themes work
