Groupy 1.41 is a culmination of multiple prior betas and some additional changes for the released 1.40. Below are the changlogs for each and links to the discussions for them.

Changelog for 1.41

  • Should address some languages not being able to create saved groups (Greek for example) or have access to the save text box at all (Chinese being one).

Changelog for 1.40

  • Fix issue with combine mode tab showing black with a very dark blue accent color
  • Fix for the edge of Excel/Word/Powerpoint etc going slightly off-screen when snapped to the left or right of the screen
  • Fix for higher than expected CPU when Excel is used to hide a worksheet
  • Possible fix for Teams / WhatsApp / other electron apps from being slightly out of alignment with other apps in a tab group
  • Addresses an issue with active tabs when they are not the foreground window using darker Curtains themes having a wrong text color (combine mode)
  • Fixes a Curtains issue to keep dark mode tabs when using a curtains style when in combine mode
  • Fixes themes which use the solid area under text to correctly blank out the area under the tabs and + / ... buttons when in combine mode (the macmono style is one such style)
  • May address legacy Microsoft Office store version where it may not open member apps from a saved group
  • Add tab (+) will now launch a new tab as elevated if the original tab was also elevated.

Changelog for 1.39

  • Fixed an issue where the min, max, close buttons could be clipped under certain conditions
  • To improve the success rate of adding an app to a group with delayed grouping enabled, to make it more obvious that an app will be grouped when moved to an area, we expanded the tabbing area to include the tabs when they are placed above the titlebar.
    Discussion: https://forums.stardock.com/500993

Changelog for 1.38

  • Some tweaks for Curtains compatibility
  • Font on tab tweaked to be slightly bigger to match OS correctly
  • Excel and Word add tab button no longer caused Excel/Word to hang around after you close all windows
  • Groupy tabs update for change in color scheme with curtains now
  • Fixes where Curtains 1.0 had a different image for the left-most tab in Groupy
  • Enables the newly added global close button (top right in Groupy) could be skinned in Curtains
  • Discussion: https://forums.stardock.com/500911/

Changelog for 1.37

  • Addressed an issue that would cause Groupy 1.36 beta to crash if Curtains RC2 was installed.  This 1.37 version must be installed to avoid that crash if Curtains RC2 is installed
  • Discussion: https://forums.stardock.com/500521

Changelog for 1.36

  • Curtains style support - requires at least Curtains Beta 6
  • Automatic selection of suitable colors when using a curtains style without custom groupy parts - Needs Curtains Beta 6
  • Expanded max tabs in a group from 25 to 50
  • Fixed LibreOffice/OpenOffice not grouping when launched from a saved group
  • When in dark mode the tab bar is now dark in all apps for foreground state
  • Added new close all button on far right of tab bar. This only applies to tabs above mode and only when tab bar is set to fill full width
  • Fixed an issue with a tab group being slightly too small leaving a gap when maximized on higher scale factors
  • Fixed an issue with FancyZones not detecting the drag of a group when dragging the tab bar
  • Fixed an issue with FancyZones which resulted in the tab bar being outside of the zone in some circumstances
  • Fixed an issue with the option to hold ctrl down to make a new window merge with the last window if a window had been closed from a group recently
  • Tweaked hold ctrl down to make new windows merge with the last window to make it respect the exclusion/inclusion list settings
  • Stopped Groupy trying to launch documents as elevated when the user has disabled UAC entirely on their system
  • Locking a group should no longer prevent grouping from working once that group is closed
  • Steam and similar apps with custom titlebars no longer get clipped on the left-hand border when in a group and maximized
  • Fixed an issue with combine if possible groups not allowing switching to other tabs when your mouse is at the very top of the screen
  • Fixes an issue with a blank area below maximized apps with custom titlebars
  • Fixes an extra 1-2 pixel line under apps when on scaling > 1 with some apps
  • Excel macro editor can no longer be added to a group as it is not compatible
  • Dragging a window to a group that's maximized on another monitor should not cause the group to jump to the monitor the new window was on before dragging started
  • Maximized windows of differing types should have more consistent tab heights
  • Added option to use the middle button in explorer to act as double click on items and middle button on a blank area to go up a level in a folder
  • Added related option to make a middle button click open folder as tab
  • Added option to use ctrl+tab for tab switching (advanced page)
  • Tweaked office file saving to use Unicode rather than ANSI for checking for existence just in case this is causing an issue for foreign setups
  • Discussion: https://forums.stardock.com/500347

Windows 10 v1909 b18363.900

Issue: Most windows without standard titlebars are inconsistently clipped at the bottom of the screen when inside a maximized group.

Steps:

  1. Open program(s) with non-standard titlebars (example list of affected apps included below)
  2. Group windows using any method. If it is already maximized, restore down to "re-calibrate" the window size
  3. Maximize window using any method that allows Windows to recognize it as a maximized window (titlebar button, Win+Up)
  4. Look at the bottom of the window to see the clipping. Compare with the same window when it is ungrouped

Affected Programs (from what I have tested):

  1. Mozilla Firefox (with standard titlebar disabled) [10px]
  2. Mozilla Thunderbird (with standard titlebar disabled) [10px]
  3. Vivaldi (web browser) [2px]
  4. Bandisoft Honeyview (image viewer) [10px]
  5. paint.net [10px]
  6. Microsoft Visual Studio Code [2px]
  7. AnyDesk (remote desktop software) [27px]
  8. Steam (main window) [18px]
  9. Logitech G HUB [2px]
  10. Razer Synapse [10px]
  11. NVIDIA GeForce Experience [10px]
  12. Discord [2px]
  13. Telegram [35px]
  14. Adobe Photoshop (CC 2020, possibly other Creative Cloud apps) [29px]
  15. openCanvas 7 (raster graphics software, free trial available) [10px] http://www.portalgraphics.net/en/oc/
  16. LaunchBox (game launcher software, free trial available, requires email) [60px] https://www.launchbox-app.com/download
  17. reWASD (controller remapping software, free trial available) [56px] https://www.rewasd.com/

Unaffected Programs

  1. Google Chrome
  2. Microsoft Office (2016) Apps

Notes:

  1. Issues began (or worsened?) when I had first updated to 1.40 from the last stable release (1.32 I think?), could be introduced in a previous beta. I am not sure if clipping had always been there, but it is definitely noticeable now. Also applies to 1.41.
  2. Windows DPI scale (or "custom scale factor") was set to 100%. It possibly affects other factors, but this is what I tested.
  3. Taskbar position does not matter. If it is at the bottom, the window will clip the same amount behind it. Any other position or if it is hidden, the window will clip through the bottom of the monitor. If you have vertically aligned monitors and the taskbar is not visible at the bottom of the monitor, the maximized group will leak into the lower monitor(s).
  4. A lot of these programs have a statusbar that is either partially or completely cut off, making this very annoying.
  5. The note about re-calibrating the window size just refers to a general issue where the maximized window size can become inconsistent when grouping new windows into a maximized group which includes windows with non-standard titlebars. Re-maximizing this group usually fixes this.
  6. At first, I believed the amount of clipping related to the size of the non-standard titlebars. For example, Firefox and paint.net have titlebars in size close to standard ones have ~10px clipping while Photoshop which has a very thin titlebar has 29px of clipping. However, Discord also has a very thin titlebar but only has 2px of clipping. Telegram has a similarly size titlebar but has 35px of clipping. Steam also has a very large draggable titlebar area and has only 18px of clipping.

Example: Firefox

Unfortunately it seems I can reproduce this myself and I am unsure how QA missed it.

I will see if we can get a fix for this out ASAP as clearly this isn't correct behaviour.

Regrettably nobody reported this during the beta or we could have sorted it before release.

Just minor translation issue: there is no way to translate string "Enter a new title for this tab" it's missing from english file and any other, is it hard coded?

It would appear to be hardcoded in 1.41.

We will modify this so it is looked up from the lang file in 1.42

Nice, that's the only string that could not be translated.
Excluding version and copyright - but same story with Start10 :)

Windows 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.3686

Groupy 1.41

Issue probably related to the one posted above.

Issue SAP GUI app ->

Working correctly when grouped windowed. Couple of pixels off when fullscreen. Quite sure it worked with earlier version (not sure which one).

See screenshots.

Windows 10 Pro version 2004, build 19041.450.
50" 4K TLC tv as my Monitor. 3840x2160.
i7 9800x, GTX2080, C:\ on M2 SSD. 32gb ddr4.

When my pc goes to sleep, which it is set to do every night after inactivity. After waking up, Groupy firmly breaks itself. Showing an invisible grey bar far off to the left of the screen, nowhere near any other title bars. Cant open or close tabs, dragging the window is super laggy, cpu spiking to 6-10% which for my pc is high lol. Seems to fix itself after like 2 minutes, or restarting of groupy. But it is an annoyance for sure.

edit: Was just too buggy, Uninstalled and went with Clover. If that does not work, I will go with XYplorer. Sorry, it looks beautiful and works awful. Like a corvette with a motorcycle engine.

seeing 30% average cpu usage for groupy (cant remember which executable) on non-admin user account on same pc. anyone experiencing high cpu usage?  I generally see negligible cpu usage for this application.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But I don't see it. Any specific application you're grouping to see it?

Thanks

I had no applications open besides task manager. All other user accounts were signed out. Again, cannot replicate on admin user account. This is win 10 2004 BTW.

Nope, sorry, still can't reproduce its on my system. On another none admin account. Grouped two File explorer. Did not see any significant Groupy CPU usage increase. Unless someone else also seeing it. I would recommend to look into your system. Try uninstall/reinstalling or purge and reinstall to see if there is any change in it. : https://forums.stardock.com/488142/groupy-support-faq#reinstalling

I am sorry you have been experiencing issues.

Other than this delay issue after sleep which we are investigating, did you encounter any other issues?

It was being very laggy and everything seemed very crashy... Fresh windows rebuild on M2 ssd. Not my system.
