explorer. exe not loading desktop

All of the sudden, desktop not appearing after signing in to Windows 10.  Using Task Manager I can stop explorer .exe and then restart explorer.exe and desktop will appear.  Uninstalling Start 10 will fix this from happening.  Help.  I like Start 10, and want to use it!

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information on your system.

1) Windows version numbers. Please use Winver.exe for full Windows version numbers.

2) Start10 version you trying to install.

Thanks

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/486022/start10-support-faq#reinstalling Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Thank you.

Would like to know. Was Start10 ever working in this system before? If yes, and suddenly the problem appear. Need to know what recently change? An update? or anything new?

Thank you.

Only recent changes were installed Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based systems (KB4565503) on 7/14/2020, but the problem began about a week after that.

Start 10 was working fine on this system before, and it works fine now after using Task Manager to stop explorer.exe and then restart explorer. exe.  Boots to desktop just fine if I uninstall Start 10 and boot without Start 10.

Start 10 and Windows booted correctly in safe mode, but still not booting correctly in normal boot.  I suspect that the last Windows update is at fault.  May be only choice now is to either uninstall the update, or just do without Start10.

I also had this exact problem when I installed the Windows 10 2004 update.  Start10 was running just fine brfore this.  I uninstalled it and things returned to normal.  Installed it again with the same problem.  I finally decided to uninstall it and install OpenShell instead which is running fine.

We are not aware of any incompatibility issues between Start10 and Windows 2004.

The most likely explanation is another component causing an issue when used in combination with those two as we would expect to see more than two people report it if there was a significant issue.

They may be so but I've used Start10 on the mentioned computer since August 2019 and never had this issue until the 2004 update.

What can I say!
