Win 10 Loading Custom ICO files not working

I am trying to make a custom theme with a few ICO files I have created, they look great previewing them, at first I was able to apply a few, and oddly it moved them from the folder they  were in to a backup folder, however on re-aplying (trying to change more icons) the closed open folder broke and looks like the unknown white document icon. I can select a custom ico file but it won't apply. Any ideas? I want to make a flat pack like Manjaro maia, everything on wincustomize is quite 3d / flashy.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information.

1) Windows version, please use Winver.exe for full Windows version numbers.

2) Icon Packager version.

3) Did you try to applied default Windows 10 icons? Does it change back to Windows 10 default icons? And, does others package that come with IconPackager work?

Thanks

1) Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.836)
2) 10.03
3) Yes I can change back to Win 10 icons and all goes to normal, yes I can switch to another preset package and all appears to work. So to confirm whats not looking I can take a custom package and save the package as, lets say MyPackage, then I got and customize the open folder and close folder, I have some .ico files I created for this and it looks like they load fine in the IconPackager interface, so far so good. I hit apply, and I get the generic white document for all my folders.

Is there a specific ico format I need? What I did is download this set of svgs for maia green https://www.xfce-look.org/p/1193879/,

Then I convert the SVGs to ICO one by one (just tested 2 or 3 of the 64 size) with this online tool to .ico format.

https://hnet.com/svg-to-ico/

Any ideas, I would really like a flat pack like Maia, can't find anything similar on wincustomize. Its also GPLv3 so pretty sure I can just port it over  and upload to the site (but I'll check) : ' )

Sorry wrong link these icons I'm trying to convert: https://www.xfce-look.org/p/1218961/

Okay well I have tried allot of things, drag dropping my ico files, opening the folder and copying in files with the exact name. It looks okay everywhere except on application just doesn't work. Not sure what to try here.

Okay maybe this is helpful, everything goes good, I can add / edit by many ways, copying into folder, double clicking browsing etc. All the way until I hit apply, then it doesn't work AND, importantly, it moves the files in my ICON package into a folder called Backup. Then icon packager thinks they are not there, what could this be about?

Yes I didn’t see any tips I hadn’t tried in that thread. I can save as from a working package then drag drop replace one icon say closed folder. I confirm it names the file correctly in the folder. Looks fine. I hit save as new package with new name. Load that package then apply. The new package now makes a folder called backup and moves Just my Custom icon there. Now there is clearly a missing icon in the standard folder and that icon appears blank in the packager and all instances of folders On my computer are the unassigned blank file icon. I’d like to be clear it happens when and only when I click assign.

I just tried replace two icons and save it. Applied and it work for me. Here my steps.

1) Set icon packager to use Windows Default Icons.

2) Click Customize -> Click Package Builder -> Click and drag my old Documents icon into "Documents". And than click my old Computer icons into "Computer" -> Click save -> Saved -> Go back to "Look & Feel" -> And my new saved icon pack is listed there. Click on it and applied and it work. Both Documents and Computer Icon change accordingly.

Try it, just try to change those 2 icons and see it work for you. If it still don't. Maybe uninstall and reinstall could help. Follow below steps.

Please try uninstall and reinstall Iconpackager. But, just to be sure, follow this steps.

1) Apply MS official icons via iconpackager. Reboot.

2) Uninstall Iconpackager. Reboot.

3) Make sure all icons is back to their Official Microsoft Icons set.

4) Reinstall Iconpackager. Reboot.

Try changing those two icons again.
