Microsoft Office Programms crash

Hi,

I installed the new Cursor FX today. I use Microsoft Office 365 and all day long Onenote and Outlook kept crashing. The program simply closes and opens again on its own, all without an error message. After uninstalling Cursor FX again, the problem no longer occurs.

Any Ideas how i can fix that?

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Well, an uninstall of CFX would have forced you to reboot after - perhaps fixing your issue with the act of.

If you reinstall the newest CFX (redownload it please), does it then still happen?

If so, is it when any cursor is applied or just one / some?  If the latter, what ones and with what effects applied if any?

Hi,  installed Cursor FX with Object Desktop this morning. Only tried Canterburry.

I deleted the cursor FX installation file again and downloaded it again with Object Desktop. Canterburry crashed Onenote several times in a very short time. Black Fire was apparently okay, Roswell crashed Onenote too. Cursor FX uninstalled again and no more crashes even without restarting

In Office 365, I have both OneNote and Outlook installed (not the web versions) and am not seeing any crashes.  What would I need to do to see one - what are you doing when you see it happen?

While a clean boot is intensive, other options - a stream of questions about what other apps you may be running - are even more so.

Clean Boot

Prior to continuing, I'd like to make sure the issue you are encountering is not occurring as a result of an application conflict. The best way to proceed would be to try loading under a new Window's Administrator account and in a "clean boot" state.

Create a new Windows Administrator (<--important that its an Administrator) account:

Windows 7:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows-7

Windows 10:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/create-a-local-user-account-in-windows-10

Windows 8:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows-8

Log in under that account and try.  If it fails, and while still under that account, please click the link below for performing a 'clean boot' under it:

I appreciate the help but I don't want to spend that much time looking for the error. I just won't use the program. Thank you for taking the time

Hi, I am having similar issues and it has been driving me crazy for several weeks, finally today I may have some additional information for you in case you are still to solve it.

My problem has mainly been in Outlook 365. Mostly whenever I hover over the attachment it crashes Outlook. I spent weeks trying everything until today never suspected CursorFX. So without going thru all the things I have tried this is how I figured it may be CursorFx, even after turning all addon off, running Outlook in safe mode and nothing works, I started figure out that it only crashes when the pointer is over the attachment file even before I tried to click on it. At first I thought it was just PDF files but then soon discover it was any file and the common thing is hovering over the attachment name. I was about to uninstall CursorFX but decided to try something, I changed from the Cursor theme I was using to Windows default went back into Outlook and hovered over the attachment and to my surprise it didn't crash I was able to open the attachment. When back to CursorFX and selected a completely different theme it crashed again, went back to Windows default theme works. My guess it has something to do with CusorFX not compatible with Outlook or some conflict. So for now I am using the Windows default cursor theme but really like CursorFX and hope you can find a solution soon.

BTW, I had the free version for some time before you added it to the Object Desktop then deleted it and install the new one from Object Desktop. I haven't done any purging you suggested before or downloaded it from account yet, if you think that would help I will try it for now I will wait till the next update. I also think my Words crashed too but not sure now since I use Outlook more than Words.

If you need any additional info please let me know.

Thanks.

Hello Mazen Khatib,

It is best for you to start your own thread for issues with CursorFX. And also need to a bit more on your setup.

1) Windows version. Please use Winver.exe for full Windows version numbers.

2) CursorFX version.

Thank you,

Patrick,

If you disable Shadows in CFX, as was done here:

https://forums.stardock.com/499577/get;3776242

Where it resolved his issue:

https://forums.stardock.com/499577/get;3776245

Does it also work for you?

Hi,

I tried it this morning and had no crash after 20 Minutes. I'll give feedback again after testing it for a day

Hi,

after a day of testing there was no further crash, seems like shadows really triggered the problem.

Thx SdRohan and the other users for finding the problem.

I found another bug. I use Windwos explorer with the preview window so i don't have to open files.

Several times the preview window just froze on me, i can't scoll through the file, neither with my mouse wheel nor the sidebar.

I can still scroll through the folder without any problems and if I select a different file the preview window also show the new file, just cant scroll through it.

I think Cursor FX is the problem because when the mouse pointer ist over the preview window, Canterburry changes to the standard windows cursor. I assume there is noch animation/Image in Canterburry for this specific cursor. If the problem with scrolling occurs the cursor stays the same and does not change to the windows cursor anymore.

Closing and reopening Windows explorer fixes the problem for some time.

Btw, the Cursor only changes if the previewed file actually has more than one page

While we would prefer a new thread on this, I tested but could not recreate your issue as described:

Hi,

i'll open a new Thread after it happens the next time and i made a video.

It only stops working after a few minutes. 3 or 4 times over half an hour i think.
