Hard to swallow!

Its with great pain that I must say good-bye. My troubles all started about a week ago when I summited a theme called "XP-X".I received an e_mail from jafo telling me it was rejected because it was a copy of boxxi"s gridscape. Knowing it was not-I resimitted and received the same e-mail.. I then resummited with a editors note that everything in said theme was made from scratch to the best of my knowledge and it was summited. Since that time my download numbers have steadaly declined. Its hard to beleive a theme goes from 100+ downloads a day to less than 5.I really feel like I"m being blackballed for whatever reason? Kinda weird when you consider I"m not makeing a dime off of any of my work. I"ve been coming to this site almost since day one and I"m just realizing that the politics here are borderline insane.I will miss some of you for sure but under these conditions there is no way I will continue to support this site!!!

Hum, funny that a piece of work doesn't slow down in the download count and that its going to download high forever. Wish that were the case. Can't and won't address the BoXXi thing as I wouldn't know. But I guess if you need a reason for leaving, this is a good one. Take care.

Maybe you should hang in there awhile longer.I'm having a similar problem with my fathom skin.Went from 300 a day to less than 20 overnight because of some really low ratings that dropped me from a 6 to a 4(after a complete redo of the skin no less )If your rating drops below 5 it no longer shows to the general public.(apparently the majority of your dl count)I have asked jafo to look into it for me so maybe things will change.Stick around awhile longer and see if they can help you.Maybe they should do away with the ratings all together.

buchen, mmm, your one would could be considered an elder on the site no doubt. Do you honestly feel as you've stated or is it something that in days or maybe months you will look back on and see as heated emotions taking control?

politics n. art or science of government; governmental principles; political actions or policies

"polemics" might be more in keeping to context

Personally I feel throwing ones hands up in the air and walking away sells them self short. I feel speaking with BoXXi about the given skin and see what transpires would be my path to solution.

Just MHO, but if you're skinning for ratings or downloads, why do it at all? I mean except for some of the guys that sell skins, isn't fun what it's all about? Learning new things? Meeting (in an Internet sort of way) new people?
Although, I bet the guys at PixStudio and Skinplant do it for fun, too!

btw - I'm not trying to change your mind. Just loosen up. Don't take it so serious.

I must say I appreciate the kind and level headed comments but just who makes the ratings and where do you see them? As has been already stated-I"ve been coming to this site a very long time and the thing I have a hard time swallowing is what do ratings really accomplish.If people download your work-isn"t that rating enough?I do this for a hobby(no cash!!!!).Don"t kid yourself 150 downloads a day mean more to desktopx themes than they do to windowblinds. Not taking anything away from windowblinds skinners but desktopx is not as "mainstream" as windowblinds!Will I feel bad about my decision in the morning-probably so-but you have to stand up for what you beleive!!!!

Possibly stats on individuals posting raitings?

Maybe if someones stats hit really low on the "constructive side" and high on the "nasty childish little brat I'm going to prove I'm better than you by calling you and your work names side" they loose the privlidge of rating anything if not access to the site?

I"ve said numberous times on other sites-If one person downloads a theme-then that theme was worth making.Why should the general public not be allowed to download all available themes?Because someone gives another an unflaterring approval rating. Some of my most downloaded themes got unfavorable ratings at other sites-doesn"t mean a thing.The only rating that counts is that somebody downloaded and is happy with what they got!!!

bucben, you have to learn. Everybody's work gets ejected. You just have to suck it up and make it better. And try and try again. I'm not sure how many works I have done got rejected but then they accepted. It depends on what they are looking for at that time and if it meets the guidelines. It's just the way it works. All my work is over at DA. The ones that got rejected and the ones that got accepted. But what makes it over here, I'm very proud of since it made it. I just wanted to make that point accross if you proceed to give up early.
