Upgrading to Windows 10

I am contemplating upgrading my games PC to Windows 10 using an in place upgrade not a re-install. I have about 12 fences each containing a different type of game. I would prefer to retain the fences setup rather than have to move all the icons out and back in again after the upgrade. I take regular snapshots.

I understand that Windows 10 will introduce new icons that will shift existing icons that are unfenced and will allow for this by fencing the unfenced icons before the upgrade.

Will the upgrade work ok or should I move the icons in each fence into separate directories before the upgrade?

Hello,

Also, if you are installing overtop Win7, your desktop icons should largely stay the same as well as Fences 3 (not 2) groups.

That said, it would be wise to also back them up as was suggested.
