Fences Icons remain on screen when using Deskscape

This has been discussed before, but I can't find a recent forum comment about this issue.  The newest I found was 2016.  So I am writing a new one.  The suggestions given in 2016 don't seem to work.

When I use Deskscape at the same time as Fences, my desktop icons do not go away (hide) when I double click on the desktop.  I think I know what the issue is but don't know what the fix it.  The problem is that Deskscape has a "Desktop Icon Transparency" settings.  Why it has this setting when you have fences doesn't make any sense. Someone explain to me what "Desktop Icon Transparency" suppose to mean when you have fences that suppose to hide the icons when you double-click the mouse.

It has a normal setting (whatever that means) and a mouseover setting.  When I set the normal setting to "invisible" and the mouseover setting to "visible", the icons hide when my mouse is NOT on the desktop (for instance in a window or on the taskbar), but as soon as I put the mouse cursor on the desktop my icons appear.  When I double-click the mouse, which is the unhide activation action for fences, the fences boxes appear, but the icons are still on the desktop.  When I double-click again, the boxes go away, but the icons remain.  When I put the Normal setting on invisible AND the Mouseover setting on invisible, the icons disappear; however, double-clicking on the desktop does NOT make the icons appear or the fences boxes appear - everything  just remains invisible.  It is obvious the "Desktop Icon Transparency" setting in Deskscape is interferring with the hide/unhide functionality of Fences.  By putting Nornal setting and mouseover setting on invisible, it is overriding the double-click unhide funtionality of fences.  Looks like the Fences programming team is not talking to the Deskscape programming team.  Guys,  you gotta talk to each other.

Does anyone have a fix for it?  The two suggestions given in 2016 was to reinstalll fences and deskscape and to reboot the computer when you activate deskscape.  None of those suggestions works.  If I was using the free version of the programs, fine, but I paid for my Fences and Deskscape.

Thank you AZDude for your help.  Love your Deskscape Dreams. You are very talented.  Yours is the first question everyone asks.  "Do you have the latest of everything?".  Yes, I have the latest of everything. Win 10, latest version of Fences(3.09.11), latest version of Deskscape (8.51). However, this is not a "latest version" problem because someone had this same problem in 2016.   I realize my post was long, but I already mentioned that I double clicked on the desktop.

I am confused. I don't have the latest version of Deskscape yet you want me to reinstall Fences, not Deskscape.  Shouldn't I first get the latest version of Deskscape installed and see if that is the problem before I reinstall fences?

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Do the Fences Hide with Static Wallpaper ?

With Deskscapes 8.51 Fences still should be right , that's why I ask to try the Purge.

But Yes if your running Win 10 I would upgrade to Deskscapes 10 https://www.stardock.com/products/deskscapes/

there is an upgrade cost.

, I have it and all works fine including Fences.

It seems more to me that Fences is the issue not Deskscapes .

With Deskscapes I would also ask to do a Purge first then reinstall dekscapes

either 8.51 or 10.02 if you upgrade to that version. Remember to always Reboot

after Purge and after Installs

Deskscape Purge https://forums.stardock.com/485954/deskscapes-support-faq#reinstalling

Another Hint did you try restoring Fences with a Snapshot with any luck .

Thanks AZDude.  Yes, Fences works fine with static wallpaper. Its just the animated stuff that it doesn't.  I just learned you need to pay money for Deskscape 10.  Is it just randomly that Stardock decides to charge you for updated software.  I know when I went from Fences 2 to 3, there was no charge.  I really don't like to reinstall software, so i will first try the Deskscape 10 to see if that fixes it.

Deskcapes 10 is a new version Not an update to 8.51

so there is a charge for all new software.

When you load 10 you will see all the different changes

from 8 .

End of Odelphi's quote

The upgrade from Fences 2 to 3 was not free unless you purchased v2 within a short period of 3 coming out.

With regards to the features, you have to remember that not all Deskscapes customers have Fences and the reverse is true as well.  This is why features which may seem to overlap exist in both.

I bought Deskscape 10 and it fixed the issue with the icons remaining on the screen.  One fixed, several to go.

Thank you for your help
