Start10 Win7 style menu - start menu has horizontal separator line?

I've set-up Start10 in the Win7 style.

When I use 'pin to start menu (start10)', the program is displayed in a list at the top.

However, there is a separator line just below this list, and I can't work out what it is for.

At first I thought I could move things between the upper and lower sections, like having favourites at the top. But nope.

Then I thought, if I used the 'pin to start' option, the program might be added to this lower section (as well as a tile in the default Win10 menu). But nope. It's only added as a tile.

So does anyone know why the start menu is split into two sections, and if the lower section can be used for anything?

Hello,

From what I know is, the top part is for Item that you pinned to Start and the bottom is for "Show recently used applications"

Ah, OK. I thought it must be something like that.

I've had no recent applications display in the lower part though, which is why I was a bit confused.

I don't really want to see recent applications in the start menu, so I'm not going to troubleshoot why they're not displaying.

Seems like a bug though!?

No it not a bug. If  you disable (un-tick) that show recently used applications that line should disappear.
