Emptying Universal Folder

Way to many programs seem to have ended up in the Universal Folder (couldn't find them at first!)

But how on earth do I move them out of there and just into the main list? They don't drag and right click doesn't seem to do anything useful.

That apart I love this program. The Windows 10 start menu was so rigid and impossible to simplify... or was that just me 8C

Hello,

I don't think there is option to do that. But you can manually link Start10 to any folder with full of shortcut links.

Here what you can do.

1) Create a new folder.

2) Put your shortcut of Universal Apps that you use often in it. Here a simple steps how to create shortcut for Universal Programs : https://www.thurrott.com/windows/windows-10/5328/windows-10-tip-create-shortcuts-for-universal-apps

3) Link Start10 with that folder. Use these steps :

HOW TO ADD FOLDER TO THE RIGHT PANEL

Just create a folder on your local drive. Create shortcut or move items into that folder and link Start10 to that new folder. To Link Start10 right panel to that folder:-

1) Right click on Start10

2) Select "Configure Start10"

3) Select Configure -> Click "Advance" button

4) Click "Add" button

5) Select the folder you just create, Click "OK" : Your folder now listed in  Custom place locations box. Click "Close" button.

6) The "Folder Name" appear on the "Which shortcuts do you want on the right hand side?" listbox

7) You can choose To "display as a link or menu or don't display" from the drop down list.

That should do it.

HOW TO ADD FOLDER TO THE LEFT PANEL

1) Right Click on the folder you wanted to appear on the left panel of Start10. (In Windows Explorer)

2) Select/Click "Pin to Start"

3) On Start10 click "All Programs"

4) That folder you "pin to start", will appear here. Right click on it.

5) Select/Click "Pin to Start Menu (Start10)

And that should do it. To have it listed out on the Left panel of Start10.

Wow! Thanks for the speedy reply 5*

I don't really want folders - it's just a second click to pen a program.

So can I add any program individually and then just delete the folder full of what it's classed as Universal Programs?

You can't delete universal programs but you can un-linked/hide it from start10 so it won't appear on your Start10 right panel

I already have that set? And it seems that because it's chosen to put (for example) iTunes in that folder, that it won't let me just add it to my list.

As I said earlier you need to link the shortcut to a folder. Universal Apps don't work like normal apps. That just how it is. And if you need to just add application to the left panel you can just.

Start10 -> Click "all program" -> scroll to "Universal Application" -> look for the application you want -> Right click on it ->Pin to Start Menu (Start10). That should make that app appear on your Start10 left panel. If you need more space for those icons you can add more columns on Start10 Configure -> Style -> Appearance -> Show icons as tiles split into "2" columns (click up arrow to add more columns)

Thank you,
